October is National Principals Month! Thank you to the hardworking principals in Marion County School District who lead our schools and support our students and teachers.

We are excited to announce that READYMarion is coming soon! The READYMarion program provides paid work-based learning opportunities for juniors and seniors in Marion County! Interested students can complete an application and be matched with job opportunities in the county. This is made possible by a generous grant from NextGen Youth Services, sponsored by the Pee Dee Council of Governments. Get ready, Marion County—the future is here!

The Fudge Shoppe was the venue for Dr. Bethea's Teacher Advisory Meeting. Teachers enjoyed a sweet treat while discussing important topics with Dr. Bethea. We appreciate all our teachers and their dedication to the students in Marion County School District!

Marion High School's golf team has received a generous donation from Horry Telephone Cooperative! We are incredibly thankful for the support and all that HTC does for the community as well! Thank you, HTC!

During Fall Intersession, our schools hosted an Intersession Camp for students in grades 3-5. It was a great week of learning and fun! Students were engaged in intentional learning in math, reading, and writing and even had the opportunity to "shop" from the "Book Buggy." They could choose five new books to take home and add to their library. We were so pleased to see our students engaged and excited about learning!

The first shipment of furniture arrived at Marion High, Mullins High, and the Academy for Careers and Technology during the fall intersession. We can't wait to see new furniture in all our schools!

Marion County School District's Proud Award is awarded to an educator or someone working within the school district who has made an impact. Ms. Palmer Allen was awarded the #MCSDProud award for the month of October. Coworkers shared, "Ms. Allen is always willing to assist others. She has shown kindness to our international teachers by helping them find housing and providing transportation. She is an awesome person!" Ms. Allen is a teacher at the Success Academy at Palmetto Education Center.

The MCSD School Board of Education recognized Marion High School’s football standout, Quay’sheed Scott at the October Board Meeting! He was WBTW Blitz Pee Dee player of the week for Week 1 and has been selected to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. Congratulations to Quay’sheed! We look forward to watching you play at the next level!

MCSD welcomed the CTE Technical Assistance Team from the South Carolina State Department of Education. The team assisted in developing a plan to increase career pathways in our high schools.

Karaoke in the Park was a huge success! This parent and community engagement activity provided an afternoon filled with fun, laughter, and fellowship! We have a lot of talent in Marion County! Thank you to all the attendees!

The 16th Annual Tobacco Bowl was held on Friday, October 27th in Marion at Fox Field. Congratulations to the Swamp Foxes on their win! Thank you to Anderson Brothers Bank for your continued support!

The Marion County School Board of Education recently held the South Carolina School Boards Association 2023 Pee Dee Regional Advocacy Meeting. The meeting was held at Creek Bridge STEM Academy.
