Jaguar Journal
January 1, 2024
Message from Mrs. Morgan:
Happy New Year! I hope that you and your family had a wonderful holiday break. In the spirit of the new year, let's embrace the opportunities for growth, learning, and collaboration that lie ahead. May 2024 be a year filled with achievements, positive experiences, and the continued development of strong connections within our SES community.
Students will return back back to school on Thursday, January 4th. As a reminder, January 2nd and 3rd are teacher work days. Don't forget to come on the teacher work days and check the lost and found. By the end of the week the clothes and items in the lost and found will be donated.
Crosswalk Safety
Let's keep our families safe, please follow the rules of the crosswalk.
- Pedestrians have the right-of-way, therefore, please do not rush to try and beat the families crossing.
- We have a walkway, flashing light, and guard to assist.
Lt. Rodriguez, our SRO as well as another Walton County Police Officer will be monitoring that area in the mornings and afternoons. Citations will be issued if cars are speeding and/or do not follow the rules of the crosswalk.
Afternoon Dismissal
As we enter the halfway mark in the school year, I'd like to send a few reminders about the car rider line in the afternoons. Safety is our priority!
- Be sure to have a car tag. The front office can issue you one if you've lost it.
- Parents are welcome to stand outside their vehicle in the car rider line, however please do not leave your vehicle and walk to the hallway entrance.
- No cell phone usage.
- Please do not switch lanes once you've entered one.
Allergy Aware Classrooms- Policy Change
Sharon Elementary School is updating the policy on food allergies to stay current with all other schools in Walton County. This new policy will start January 4th when all students return from the break.
Since lunch is eaten in the cafeteria, your child may bring peanut butter, peanut or nut products for lunch. There will be a designated peanut-free area where any classmate without peanut or nut products can sit with friends in the cafeteria. This plan will help maintain safety.
Classrooms will remain nut free for snacks and birthday treats.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us to ensure that all students have a safe and successful remainder of the school year.
For additional information, please see letter attached below. A copy will be sent home in Thursday folders before the break.
