A Message from the Administrative Team
Dear WJHS Families,
We are excited to share that the Student Council will be hosting a Halloween Costume Contest. During Monday morning announcements, students learned more about expectations for wearing costumes on Tuesday, October 31. To assist you in helping your child decide on a costume, should they choose to wear one, please remember that the WJHS Expectations for Dress will apply.
Also, Halloween costumes cannot include:
Full face paintings or face masks (all students must be identifiable)
Props may NOT include weapons or their look-alikes, and will be confiscated if deemed distracting or inappropriate
Excessive fake blood and/or gore
The inability for a student to sit down (if your child has an inflatable costume that does not easily deflate, they should save that for home Halloween activities and choose an alternate for school)
Parent/Teacher conference information
Families should have received a letter, via email, from the district on Thursday (yesterday). It should have included information about parent/teacher conferences. Please check your SPAM folder if you did not receive this email, and let us know if you don't find it.
NEW for 2023, Highcrest Middle School and Wilmette Junior High School conferences will be done by video call using the Meet the Teacher platform.
All video conferences will be conducted via the built-in video conferencing software inside Meet the Teacher and not via Zoom. No special software or app is needed, as the video runs in your web browser. A video link will be sent to you with your appointment confirmation. Meet the Teacher has a support page with detailed information should you need it.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Kate, Eric and Nicole

Principal Appreciation Month
October is Principal Appreciation Month and we are very proud to honor our building leaders in District 39. Being a school administrator is both rewarding and challenging. It is one of the toughest jobs in education and, yet, our leaders rise to the challenge every day. The principals, assistant principals and grade-level administrators in each of our buildings are dedicated to caring for and assisting our students and staff to reach their full potential. We thank them for their hard work, expertise, dedication, care, flexibility and perseverance. Please take a moment to thank your child(ren)âs building administrators for all they do.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our fall parent-teacher conferences will take place on Nov. 15-17, immediately preceding Fall Break (Thanksgiving week). Families received an email yesterday with details on the Meet the Teacher platform that we will be using district-wide this fall as well as a link to their support page to help answer any questions. A reminder that the sign-up window opens on Monday, Oct. 30 at 9 am and closes on Monday, Nov. 13 at 11:59 pm. Families will receive an email next Friday with their sign-up code.
D39 Educational Foundation Trivia Night
Reserve your table now for the District 39 Educational Foundationâs annual Trivia Night on Saturday, Nov. 4 at St. Josephâs School.
