Monitoring Reports [FOR DISCUSSION]
Policy 4.3 Continuous Monitoring and Reporting
The Continuous Monitoring and Reporting process holds the Board and the Superintendent accountable to achieve the “Ends” which are our vision and goals for the system as stated in the Board’s Policy Manual. It also provides transparency to the community demonstrating how we are working together with the Superintendent to achieve these Ends within the Executive Limitations.
The Board will monitor the Superintendent’s performance continuously. To enable the Board to fulfill this responsibility, the Superintendent will submit Monitoring Reports detailing the Superintendent’s interpretation of each Policy set forth in Section 1 (Ends) and Section 2 (Executive Limitations); the means employed to achieve and/or comply with them, and a corrective action plan to address any known deficiencies. Monitoring reports will be submitted on the schedule identified in the Board Work Plan described in Policy 3.6.
October Monitoring Report: Policy 1.2: Academics and Foundations
Accelerating Student Learning Pillar
Dr. Kristy Beam and her team, Christen Gibbons, Director of Instructional Programs, Courtney Simon, Director of English Language Arts and Social Studies, Heidi Whatley Director of Research and Analytics, and Julie McFaddin, Director of Math and Science shared a presentation with the Board regarding the Accelerating Student Learning Pillar highlighting the data, benchmarks, and priority initiatives.
The team shared how CSD is committed to accelerating student learning by focusing on effective teaching and learning practices that align with the CSD Instructional Framework.
CSD will eliminate disproportionate academic outcomes based on race.
All students will meet or exceed predicted growth scores
Students will exemplify our graduate profile
In order to achieve these goals, the team shared that the District will ensure that all students in CSD have access to a guaranteed and viable curriculum by:
Creating and implementing a tiered, coherent curriculum map.
Utilizing consistent, standards-aligned core materials in all classrooms.
Developing and implementing a comprehensive and consistent approach to assessment that is utilized for data-based decision-making.
Embedding culturally relevant resources and practices in every classroom.
Continuously evaluating and ensuring equitable programs, policies, and practices.
Expected Growth Targets: July 2026
The team received comments and answered questions from board members.
Naming Policy for CSD Schools [FOR DISCUSSION]
The naming policy was implemented to establish guidelines for the naming of school buildings (or areas within a building) or facilities. Naming or renaming schools provides an opportunity to further develop an identity for the school, its community, its staff, and its students. The naming of school buildings or facilities is the responsibility of the Board of Education. The Board agreed unanimously to adopt the amended policy.
Monthly Data Report [FOR INFORMATION]
The monthly data reports from principals are provided to support school improvement plans that take a systemic approach to improve student achievement and school quality. These reports will present a graphic summary of important school data to allow the Board easy access to important metrics that the school is measuring to determine how the district and the school are doing on meeting district and school goals. The reports will be updated monthly and posted on the Board of Education agenda to provide all stakeholders with up-to-date information on how the school is progressing in meeting its goals.
