PRIDE Under Construction - Week #12 🚧
Greetings, STEAM Family!
It goes without saying that we experienced another week full of much PRIDE at SDE! During our celebration of America's Safe Schools Week, we were delighted to begin our mornings each day with members of our Student Council sharing reminders with students and staff of the many ways we can maintain safe practices throughout our school environment. We know that school safety is EVERYONE's responsibility.
In the "Instruction Zone", we're excited to highlight Mrs. Tiffanie Reynolds' 1st grade scholars as their love for literacy, engineering, and music was all on full display! After reading the story, "A Musical Day", the students were challenged to create their own musical instruments using common everyday household items all to be featured in their classroom "band's" performance! We always celebrate throughout the building EVERY FRIDAY by listening to our school's song (Lovely Day by Bill Withers) in all classrooms after morning announcements; however, Mrs. Reynolds' class made it extra special this past week with their own jam session! Be sure to check out the pictures of the students' creations featured below.
The upcoming week will be one full of activities and much excitement, as we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week to emphasize the importance of living a drug free life. This year’s campaign theme is “Celebrate Life. Live Drug Free”. We will conclude the week with our highly anticipated 1st Nine Weeks PRIDE Celebration & Fall Festival for students who have met the qualifying criteria. Parents/guardians, please be on the lookout for a very important memo which will be sent home on tomorrow (Monday) providing all of the details you need to know for all meetings we are hosting this week, as well as how to prepare for the Fall Festival!
WHO ARE WE?.... (By now, you should certainly know; however, if not, be sure to ask someone!)
Mrs. Reynolds' Mindful Musicians
We are effective communicators.
We are problem solvers.
We are lifelong learners!
Red Ribbon Week 2022
This Week at SDE:
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Parents, please make sure your child maintains regular attendance and arrives to school in a timely manner. Students are tardy at 8:15 am. Five (5) tardies and/or early dismissals count as one (1) unexcused absence. Student attendance will be a part of criteria used to determine eligibility for school-wide celebrations. Remember, every minute really counts!
- Weekly grade level newsletters will be sent home each Monday, so please check your child's folder and/or book bag.
- The dress code will be enforced DAILY at SDE! Any "Dress Down" days will be communicated in advance. Repeated dress code violations will result in students becoming ineligible to participate in school-wide and/or classroom PRIDE celebrations and events! Please make sure your child adheres to the required dress code. Remember, the P in PRIDE stands for "Personal Responsibility".
- The PRIDE Afterschool Remediation/Enrichment Program takes place on Mondays - Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Snacks and transportation will be provided. For more information regarding the after school program waiting list, please contact the school at (478) 353-8250.
