Blind Book Date
Valentines's Day in Mrs. Guess' class was a special one for the 4th grade students at Mendez Elementary. Rather than just a traditional class party, Mrs. Guess treated all of her students to a blind date with her favorite classroom tool - an exciting book. Each student was gifted a wrapped book to ensure their love for reading continues!
A Waffle Lot of Talent
On February 15, students in an advanced culinary arts class taught by Daniel Reinhard worked to serve a chicken and waffles meal for San Marcos CISD teachers and staff. Learning Lunches provides students the opportunity to experience what it’s like to work in the culinary industry. Each student has a role during every Learning Lunch whether it’s preparing the food, plating the meal or working the front of house.
TEA Commissioner
Texas Education Agency Commissioner, Mike Morath, visited Rodriguez Elementary this afternoon. Morath joined in on the engaging lessons, heard first-hand student voice and praised our teachers for their high quality instruction.
It's Cool to be Kind
In the spirit of Kindness Week, Travis Counselor, Marisa Perez, hosted Travis 5th grade students on February 13 and had students participate in social emotional learning activities. Perez and Travis staff created a safe space for students to talk about about their feelings and taught different techniques of handling hard situations.
Q & U Get Married
The letters Q and U were married on Valentine’s Day in front of Mendez Elementary kindergartners. The two letters came together in matrimony to make words such as question, equal, quest and quarterback. Both letters said, “I do,” to much fanfare from the students.
