Principal's Message
I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. You all deserved it! The weather certainly cooperated. We went to Apple Hill Orchard on Saturday with my son & his family. It was beautiful, although the sun felt searing hot! The granddaughters got to play on a wooden tractor playset (which is free and they would play on for hours), went for a hayride (not free, not worth it), and picked some apples. Rosalynn (3) was so excited to go pick apples, but then told everyone that she doesn't like them. On the way out we got some warm apple donuts, and she was ok with those 😉
Every week has its own set of challenges. Sometimes there are just more than others. Last week seemed to be one of those. I can honestly say that I wouldn't want to work through times like these with any other staff. You all have been incredibly supportive and helpful, willing to do whatever is needed for our students. That is all I could ever ask for.
As you know, we have conferences on Tuesday - please see the information below. We will do a quick Huddle tomorrow morning.
See you soon,
Cara
Parent Teacher Conferences
New Schedule
This new schedule of PT conferences is going to make it a challenge to talk to all the parents you need to. Do your best to get the parents in that you need to speak to the most. You can set up phone calls if you need to as well.
Focus of Conferences
Although your time is short, please remember to talk to each set of parents/guardians about:
- Attendance - how is attendance impacting learning?
- Academics - where are they in your grade level standards this year?
- Behavior - do they have several behavior documentations or referrals?
*And K-4, don't forget to get those RIMPs signed!
Classrooms for Conferences
This is a chance to make families feel comfortable in our school. Please make sure your room is neat & organized, you have all of the information you need for your conferences available and you have student work hanging on the walls or in the hallways. Parents love to look for their kid's work among other students!
What can they do at home?
One thing that parents ask frequently is how they can help their child at home. iReady has handouts you can give out about how to support them that are ready made. Here is a quick link I found: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J-bzBRgYB6lSNfAh2dOe-gPEIhOKquXAo05hhI3QdDc/edit?usp=sharing
What would you prefer for food on Tuesday night?
