Principal's Message
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. My wife, children & I could only connect verbally with family, but because my parents live with us, I was fortunate to be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with them. Not the holiday we usually experience, but still happy to be with some family.
As you all know, the district made the decision to return to all virtual after we learned that the State of New Jersey is now at the high risk "orange" level for COVID -19 cases. In addition, there is a continuous rise in cases in both the district and the community.
We were just getting used to seeing those happy, little faces in person; however, I feel the decision to return to virtual was the best for the health, welfare and safety of our students, staff and their families.
While in remote learning status, we will continue to use our health screening process. The data gleaned will be important to us as it will give us an idea of the status of COVID -19 in the school community. This will be especially important when it is time to return to in-person instruction.
During this stressful time, it is important to remember that children look to adults for guidance on how to react to stressful events. Teaching children positive preventive measures, talking with them about their fears, and giving them a sense of some control over their risk of infection can help reduce anxiety. Please know that we are here to support and assist you and your family. If you have any needs or concerns, please reach out to me, your child’s teacher or our Guidance Counselor, Ms. Simone – we will be more than happy to help.
Enjoy the month of December and hopefully the joy that this time of year brings.
Sincerely,
Joe Marinelli
