Tyler Day- Senior Tech Specialist
Written by Mari Mendoza
Meet Tyler Day, the Senior Tech Specialist at VP, whose journey from Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine to Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego has been marked by a passion for technology and a love for soccer. Graduating from high school where he actively participated in soccer, Mr. Day initially majored in biology for two years at college before transitioning to Kinesiology. Although he didn't engage in extracurricular activities during his college years, Mr. Day’s commitment to his field was unwavering. Before joining VP in June 2023, he worked at multiple schools and also coached soccer part-time at Crean Lutheran High School. One of Mr. Day’s most cherished memories at VP are the first weeks of school. Beyond his technical expertise, he brings a personal touch to his role, evident in his love for Sunday league soccer, his recent addition of a new furry friend to his life, and his strong relationship with coworkers, particularly the school librarians.
Jonathan Lee- Social Studies Teacher
Jonathan Lee, the vibrant Social Studies Teacher at VP, brings a diverse background and a passion for education to his role. Mr. Lee’s academic journey began at Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, where he not only excelled academically but also showcased his talents as a member of the marching band, playing the alto saxophone. In high school, Mr. Lee balanced his time with weight lifting and active participation in the Key Club. Moving on to Cal State Fullerton for college, Mr. Lee earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and also obtained his teaching credentials. During his college years, he took on leadership as a club president for one of the clubs on campus and explored his adventurous side through scuba diving. Before joining VP in 2023 as a Social Studies Teacher, Mr. Lee accumulated a diverse set of experiences, working in sales, warehouse management, shipping handling, as a waiter, tutor, private investor, and as a substitute for Orange High School. One of his favorite memories at VP is the excitement of the first day of school, reconnecting with students. Outside the classroom, Mr. Lee enjoys snowboarding, photography; has a fondness for early 2000s JDM cars, and is known for his culinary skills as a very good cook.
