CEP Schools to Receive Free Meals this Upcoming School Year
The USDA has made available a program called the Community Eligibility Program (CEP). By participating in this program, a school serves free breakfast and free lunch to all students.
The following Huntsville schools participate in the CEP Program:

Pre-K Staggered Start Times for New School Year
Staggered start allows Pre-K students to get adjusted to the new classroom environment in a small setting.
Half of Pre-K students will report on Monday, August 7 and Wednesday, August 9, 2023. The other half of students will report on Tuesday, August 8 and Thursday, August 10, 2023. All Pre-K students will report on Friday, August 11, 2023.
Families will receive communication from their Pre-K teachers about this next week.
Student/Parent Information Guide Now Available
Bus Routes Coming Soon
Bus routes are continuing to be finalized for the upcoming school year. Routes will be posted when they are made available at huntsvillecityschools.org/transportation. Parents and guardians should log in using their student's Clever login credentials. Please contact your child's school for assistance with your student's login credentials.
Normal Hours Resuming July 24
Blended Pre-K Now Offered at HCS
Huntsville City Schools offers an amazing Blended Pre-K program at multiple campuses! Students will receive an inclusive school experience to learn, play, and engage.

Note: Child must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2023.
HCS Deploying Air Purifiers to Classrooms
Huntsville City Schools is the only known school district in North Alabama to deploy two portable HEPA purifiers to every classroom through UAB's ELC-funded program. HCS continues to promote school air quality by pursuing ways to continually optimize ventilation in schools across the district. Watch air purifiers video.
Returning Student Registration
All parents/guardians who have not completed their student's returning registration for the 2023-2024 school year may do so by visiting our district website and selecting "Enrollment." Under enrollment, choose Returning Student Registration.
- You will need to provide 2 current documents for Proof of Residency.
- If you have not received your student's snapcode for registration, please contact the school your student attends.

Back to School Bash set for July 29
The Huntsville Police Department's Community Relations Officers, are in need of few more volunteers for the dunking booth, at our "Back to School Bash" event. If any teachers, administrators, or whomever would like participate, please contact Officer Joel Stephens (joel.stephens@huntsvilleal.gov) or Officer Matt Troncone (matthew.troncone@huntsvilleal.gov).
College Night for 12th Grade Parents & Students on Aug. 17
Date and Times: August 17th, 2023
- 5:30 p.m. - Mini College Fair
- 6:00 p.m. - College Panel with College Admission Representatives
- 6:45 p.m. - Break-out sessions (Topics: The Application Process, Paying for College, Applying for Scholarships)
Location: Huntsville High School, Freshman Academy
Parking: Park in the back of the school by the Freshman Academy Building
Celebrating Education Day Parade and Festival on August 19
Parade starts at 8:00 AM and the festival follows with food trucks, vendors, games, & more!
