Dear Father Doyle Families,

We're looking forward to seeing many of you at our annual Spooktacular & Trunk or Treat event tomorrow evening! It's amazing to think that we are already preparing for Halloween and looking ahead to the month of November!

We'll kick-off the month with our annual All Saints Day Mass, which we celebrate in a special way each year with the presentation of our 5th Grade Saint Projects. Mass will begin at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 1st, and all are invited to attend.

In addition, as we enter November we also kick-off the second unit of our Friendzy program. The Catchphrase for Unit 2 is "Love at All Times!" and our scripture verses remind us that "a friend loves at all times" (Proverbs 17:17) and that we are called to "not merely say that we love each other" but to "show this truth by our actions" (1 John 3:18).

Students will be engaging in various activities over the next 5-6 weeks that further develop and build upon this catchphrase and the accompanying verses. In addition, we encourage all families to continue the Friendzy conversation at home. Here is the latest Parent Letter for Unit 2 that outlines the Catchphrase, Key Verses, and Conversation Topics for families.

Updates and Reminders:

• You can find the latest Extended Day schedule (Oct. 30 - Nov. 3) here. Please note Extended Day will close at 5:00pm on Halloween.
• Students brought their biggest smiles for Picture Day this past Tuesday! All families received a QR code to order pictures, which should be available within 7 days.
• Save the Date! The Annual FJVD Veterans Day Service will be held Thursday, November 9th beginning at 6:30pm. Additional information, including options for purchasing flags and providing names of service men and women will be available soon.

Based on our interest survey, we have enough students for a Boys Junior Basketball Team. (Grades 4-6). Thank you to Coach Ed for volunteering to coach again this year!

If your child would like to join our basketball team, the deadline to register is November 6th. Those of you that are already practicing with Coach Ed, you will still need to register for the team.

Join Northeast Family Martial Arts for a 4 week program here at Father Doyle. This program is open to student in grades K-2 and will begin on Tuesday November 28th. The classes are uniquely planned and feature kid friendly, yet challenging exercises designed to get children in shape while teaching them confidence, discipline, and the never give up attitude. Our Annual Spooktacular is coming up!

Date: October 28, 2023

Time: 6:00 - 7:00

Come dressed in your best costume and join us for a Halloween Celebration! Please sign-up below to be part of the fun! We are looking for families to decorate their trunk and hand out candy! Don’t want to decorate, but willing to donate candy? Bring it in by October 19th!

Everyone is welcome to join us on October 28th to Trick or Treat and enjoy the sights! We will have our Middle School decorated pumpkins on display. Please RSVP here by October 21st if you plan to join us in any way. Let us know if you will be trick or treating, decorating a trunk, and/or donating candy! Please email fjvdpto@fjvd.org with any questions.

Additional information for those who sign up to decorate a trunk will be sent on the 22nd.

We are now offering spirit-wear on our uniform site, not through SquadLocker. This should alleviate long shipping/processing times and provide high quality spirit wear at a slightly discounted cost. We will continue to add items in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back often!

Home Projects for the Month of October:

Home projects are broken down by grade level groupings. These are not required and rarely involve a material project, but rather include an opportunity to discuss and practice the virtues as a family. You can find the home projects for the Month of October here.

We're excited for another great year of Extended Day Care! Please find the welcome letter below from our coordinator, Ms. Ciera. There are lots of fun activities and themes prepared for the upcoming months!

As a reminder, the Extended Day Policies and Procedures can be found here. When picking up for extended day, please call the extended day line at 401-262-0271. An extended day staff person will direct you to the appropriate pick-up location either the west wing/middle school entrance (to the left of the main entrance) or an outdoor play space.

A reminder that Father John V. Doyle School is a peanut and tree-nut free school. For the safety of all students, we ask that children not bring snacks and other food items to school that contain peanuts and/or tree nuts. This includes peanut butter, nutella, and granola bars containing peanuts or tree nuts.
