Principal Message
This past week at the assembly I shared that we would be starting the Commodore Committee. This will be a student group that works with me and sometimes with the staff leadership team. Using our data (panorama and fastbridge), student feedback forms, and other forms of input. The main goal is to make sure that we have student voice in the changes that we make in the school and to have the students be a part of the change to the climate and culture of our school. There will be two informational/interest meetings this week to find out more and what the commitment will be to be a part of this team. You can come either on Wednesday 10:55-11:25 or Thursday during 11:25-11:55. We will meet in Jody's office.
Some events that are coming up in the next few weeks are:
- 12/11: All 10th graders attend PAHCC
- 12/11: JV & Varsity Boys Basketball @ Colchester, 5:30/7pm. The bus departs at 4:15pm.

The ANWSD Tech Dept is looking for a student or students with a bit of mechanical/computer/electronics aptitude to help us repair Chromebooks with various problems. The job will typically consist of swapping out batteries and displays, removing batteries in preparation of sending the device to e-waste, repairing or replacing the occasional keyboard, and investigating other miscellaneous failures. The student will be taught to work safely, coached on repair best practices and troubleshooting techniques, and supervised during the repair process. We will provide the needed hand tools. The student has only to bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and use their hands. To apply please email Jody Chamberlin or Colden Golann a letter of interest.

Nurse Announcements
We have had a few instances of students consuming hot peppers and products containing them during school. Chili peppers do have various health benefits and are rich with vitamins and nutrients but when consumed by individuals that are not used to consuming spicy foods, they also have risks. The active “spicy” compound in peppers is called capsaicin, which causes a burning sensation in the mucous membranes of your digestive system. It also increases secretion of gastric acid and stimulates the nerve endings in the skin. A person who ingests a large amount or is not used to eating chili peppers may have some side effects including nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, pain in your stomach, mouth, chest, and/or any area that comes in contact with the oils from the pepper. These are not symptoms they want to experience during school and Please discuss with your child the potential risks associated with following social media trends and pepper related challenges.
Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child's illness. Jaime Wells at jwells@anwsd.org or 471-2298
