ConVal High School Happenings - March 17, 2023
Message from Principal McKillop
Good Afternoon, Cougar Nation!
I hope this email finds you well and warm. It was so nice to welcome students and staff back to our building today. We have all had to adjust quite a bit over the last few days in various ways.
We look forward to celebrating our students at the district band and choral concerts early next week (dates and times below). We look forward to Monday, the first day of spring. We look forward to what we hope is a full week of school for students with no weather events on the horizon (fingers crossed). In summary, there is quite a bit to look forward to!
Have a wonderful weekend, and GO COUGARS!
Best,
Heather

Student Achievements
Last Saturday, ConVal's Youth and Government delegation went to the State House in Concord to participate in the pre-legislative session with 200 students from around the state. The event was part of the Youth and Government program, sponsored annually by the YMCA, which allows high school students to serve in model governments at the local, state, national, and international levels. During the session, junior Gabby Ramsden was elected as the 2024 Youth Governor. Ramsden distinguished herself by giving two great speeches and answering difficult questions about key issues in the state of New Hampshire. Ramsden will be traveling to Washington, DC, in the spring to meet with other youth governors and learn about leadership. Congratulations, Gabby!

FREE HVAC101 Class at MCC!
Due to High Demand we have opened an additional
Saturday 7 week section beginning March 25th
The class is FREE due to the Early College Governor’s STEM scholarship!
Taking HVAC101M in the Spring prepares students to continue with HVAC classes (also FREE) in the Summer or Fall! This is a great opportunity for any high school student looking to explore HVAC as a possible career choice. HVAC101M is a three-credit college course that could propel an HVAC career or at least be used as an open elective toward any college degree.

SAT TESTING DAY MARCH 22ND!
Hello Juniors!
Just a reminder that next Wednesday, March 22nd, all juniors will be taking the SAT test. It is also a regular school day for all students. The test will begin at 7:35 a.m. and end at approximately 12:15-ish. After the test you will have lunch, and then you will attend your 4th block class.
There will be an important Pre-administration Session on Tuesday 3/21 in the LHT during TASC. All juniors are required to attend this session. Your homeroom teacher will have already booked you to their TASC for that day. You will need to bring your Chromebook to the LHT on 3/21. Part of the session will be to make sure that your Chromebook has the SAT secure browser on it, and that you are able to log in to it.
During the pre-administration session, you will also be told of your room assignments, and important rules for testing will be reviewed. One very important rule that we will repeat many, many times is that cell phones will need to be turned OFF during testing and can't be accessed at all - not even during breaks - until testing is over.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter!
