Principal Message
Welcome back to school, parents! As the new year begins, it's an exciting time for both you and your children. Here are a few tips to support your family's transition back into the school routine:
- Establish a Routine: Help your child get back into the school routine by gradually adjusting bedtime and wake-up times. Consistent routines can provide stability and make the transition smoother.
- Set Goals Together: Discuss academic and personal goals with your child for the new year. This can help motivate them and provide a sense of direction for the months ahead.
- Encourage Healthy Habits: Emphasize the importance of good nutrition, regular exercise, and sufficient sleep. Healthy habits contribute to overall well-being and academic success.
- Celebrate Achievements: Acknowledge and celebrate your child's accomplishments, both big and small. Positive reinforcement can boost their confidence and motivation.
- Emphasize a Growth Mindset: Teach your child the importance of resilience and a growth mindset. Emphasize that challenges are opportunities to learn and grow.
Remember, the partnership between parents and schools is crucial for a child's success. By staying involved and offering support, you can help create a positive and enriching educational experience for your child. Here's to a successful and fulfilling 2024!
Go Bulldogs!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jodi Oliver

Healthy Relationships and Sexual Health Curriculum Information
In March 2016, the Parkway Board of Education adopted the K – 12 Healthy Relationships and Sexual Health Curriculum Frameworks. The frameworks include program goals, learning outcomes, and procedural guidelines for the successful implementation of this curriculum at all school levels in the Parkway School District.
The curriculum, which entails the My Growing Body Units (Grades K-2), and Growth and Development Units (Grades 3-5), were implemented during the 2016-17 school year. Click here to access the website for more information.
Please see further information below on how parents can review these curricular materials on January 10.
Notes from Nurse Munch
Reminder, a child is too sick for school if:
- They have a fever of greater than 100.4 F or higher. Students need to stay home until they are fever free for 24 hours without taking medication to reduce their fever.
- They have vomiting or diarrhea. They should stay home and rest until they are symptom free for 24 hours.
- Severe cough, persistent sinus or nasal congestion, persistent headache and body aches also usually indicate that a child needs to stay home until they are feeling better.
