University School Return-to-School Safety Protocols
As we are planning for our return to school on Wednesday, July 7th, it is our hope to have an as close to normal return as possible for our students and staff. While we do want to take necessary precautions, we ask that our students, staff and families follow these recommended guidelines:
- ETSU and University School no longer requires fully vaccinated individuals to wear face coverings on campus. Anyone who has not been vaccinated or wishes to continue wearing a face covering in public spaces is encouraged to do so.
- Physical distancing will be observed to the greatest extent possible.
- Additional sanitizing will take place daily.
- Individual sanitizing wipes will be provided for cleaning student work areas.
- Hand sanitizing and regular handwashing is strongly encouraged.
- Individuals exhibiting COVID-like symptoms should remain home until cleared to return to school (following current return-to-school algorithm).
We appreciate your continued support and cooperation as we look forward to a wonderful and successful school year!

Medication Policy & Drop-off
University School follows Washington County’s medication policy, which states that parents/guardians must provide any medication that their student will need while at school and the student must have a medication authorization form signed by a parent/guardian on file. This includes any over-the-counter medications (i.e., ibuprofen, Tylenol, cough drops, triple antibiotic ointment, anti-itch cream, etc.). If the medication is a prescription, a signed medication form or Individual Health form must be completed by the child's medical provider and signed by a parent. The medication authorization and Individual Health forms can be picked up in the main office, from the school nurse, and found on the school website under the school nurse page. You may drop off your child's medication and completed documentation to the school nurse on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from 10 am -12:30 pm or any school day from 8 am -1 pm.
Grade 9-12 may bring their own devices to use at school. In order to do so, students will need to bring a signed copy of the BYOD Policy and their device to school on Wednesday, July 7.
