It's Almost Time For Back To School!
Dear Greenfield Families and Friends,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year! We are excited to return on August 31st and can't wait to see all of you! K-4 students and families are invited to join us for an Open House on Monday, August 30th at 4:00pm. We will be meeting together outside and students will be able to visit their classrooms in small groups. Masks will be required to enter the building. We hope to see you there!
Preschool/First Friends Families should expect to hear from Ms. Trish in the coming days about the first days of preschool.
Bus routes can be found here: https://cvsdtransport.wixsite.com/mysite/greenfield. If your address is not on any of the routes, please contact Amy Wing at awing@ridesta.com or call the bus company at 924-9211.
Please find the revised Reopening Plan for the ConVal District attached below. I encourage you to read the plan and reach out with any questions you may have. We are planning to begin school in the Green Phase and masks are required for all staff and students indoors. Please be sure to send your child to school with extra masks each day. We do have plenty here in case anyone forgets! Masks will not be required outdoors and we will utilize outdoor learning spaces as much as possible this fall!
Everyone should expect a welcome letter from your child's teacher this weekend. Please reach out to the school next week if you have not gotten a letter by Monday or Tuesday.
We a few new staff members joining us this year. Please join me in welcoming our new School Counselor, Mrs. Vanessa Lofstedt, our new Library Media Specialist, Ms. Erin Mack and Para-educator, Mr. Peter Leblanc. Stay tuned for a staff spotlight in the coming weeks to learn more about our new staff members!
Please be sure to check your email frequently over the coming weeks for any news or updates related to reopening.
I am excited to begin my 8th year as the principal here at GES! I'm so lucky to be part of such a wonderful, supportive community! I look forward to partnering with all of you this year and watching all our Grey Wolves grow and learn together! See you soon!

What We Did Over Summer Vacation
We've been busy relaxing, reading, playing and learning this summer!
I spent a week at Ogunquit Beach with family and climbed my first 4,000 foot mountain in July. The view from the summit of Mount Mousilaukee was amazing! I'm getting ready to renovate my kitchen after many delays! I also read several good books, facilitated a math training for K-12 teachers.
Mrs. Paul visited family in Canada, spent a week in Maine and enjoyed time with her grandchildren. She has been extra busy helping all our teachers make sure they have everything they need in their classrooms!
Mr. Chris worked extra hard this summer to get many of our schools ready for opening day! We appreciate all that he does to keep our school healthy and clean! We are so lucky to have him as part of our GES family!
Mrs. Hodgen enjoyed tubing down the Saco River and spending time with her family this summer and enjoyed learning all about Addition & Subtraction during a week long professional development opportunity.
Mrs. Barnes visited family and friends in Virginia and enjoyed sharing favorite New England sites with her mom and brother this summer. She also participated in a literacy training with renowned literacy expert Dr. Louisa Moats.
Mrs. Aborn enjoyed traveling to see family, spending time with her grandchildren and visiting the beach this summer. She also stretched her brain and learned a lot about fractions during a 4-day math workshop!
Ms. Heard enjoyed time with her family in Maine and took advantage of several professional development opportunities this summer in math and professional learning community protocols.
Mrs. Goodspeed went hiking and kayaking and enjoyed cooking on the grill! She also spent time doing some professional development and learning how to be an even better math teacher!
Ms. Gendron spent time visiting family on Cape Cod this summer, reading and relaxing with friends and growing her math brain while learning about the best ways to teach fractions.
Mrs. Parker spent a few weeks at the beach in Maine and tried paddle boarding for the first time! She also spent several days helping our new PE/Health teachers in the district learn about the curriculum and the schools they will be supporting.
Ms. Lavoie had a blast tubing while visiting friends at the lake.
Mrs. Cook and her family went camping for a week at Acadia State Park in Maine.
Mrs. Burnett spent three weeks at the beach reading 17 books and went to her 51st high school reunion!
What did you and your family do over the summer break?

The ConVal School District has news blog to serve as a hub for the latest updates, information and news about the district’s schools, students, faculty, events and accomplishments.
The blog, ConValNews.com is integrated into the schools and District’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and will automatically broadcast news blog content onto these platforms, connecting directly with the district community.
With a clean, user-friendly and mobile responsive layout, the news blog allows for easy navigation throughout. It can be accessed on computers, cell phones and tablets. Community members can subscribe and be notified by email when new posts are published.
Parents/guardians, students, staff, and community members should still utilize the district’s main website, Convalsd.net, to access the District-wide calendar of events, contact information, school committee meeting notices and minutes, important documents and notices and to view general information about the district and its schools.
