Many say that the possibility of becoming anew requires us to come apart, to be undone. Do you buy it? Do you fear it? Have you already done it and can testify to its truth? In her article "The Impossible has Already Happened," Rebecca Solnit challenges us to think of this time as akin to a spring thaw, a call to challenge the status quo.
Maybe you are ready for change but asking "How Movements Become Possible?" Give this TED Short a listen. What are others learning about living and leaning into possibility by watching you?
Need more inspiration to embrace possibilities this week? Let John O'Donohue's words sink over you "For a New Beginning."

COVID Memorial Tree Dedication
On Sunday, October 3, after the service, spend a few minutes honoring those people who have been affected by Covid 19. We have planted a tulip tree on our grounds, and will be placing a plaque before it; the plaque will read “In memory of those affected by Covid-19, 2020-2021.” Whether you have a friend or family member who has passed from Covid, or are simply appalled at the sheer numbers of people who have succumbed, this Memorial Tree has been planted in their honor and memory.
If you would like to read a brief poem or bit of prose at this memorial service, please contact Deb Dagavarian at dagbonar4@gmail.com. This idea for this memorial came about through the UUCSJS Caring Team.
Margaret Circle
Margaret Circle will meet on Thursday, October 7, at 1:00, at the UU Center.
Arlene Yacka will be presenting our topic, which will be which will be based on the book “The Decade Matrix” by James O. Gollum. The premise of this book is that the decade you were born into made you what you are today. This will take us back in time, so dig up those old memories. This promises to be a very interesting discussion.

The Call You Cannot Refuse
-Rev. Carol Haag, Guest Minister
Rev. Haag is an ordained minister and retired religious educator who currently serves as Chair of the Development Committee at Murray Grove. Her sermon will touch on the history of John Murray’s arrival in North America and will include a story for all ages about events in September 1770. This service will be interactive and participatory, an invitation to conversation about commanding ideas of Universalism in our lives.
This service will be held inside the sanctuary at UUCSJS. The service will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page.
From the UU Pandemic Response Team
We hope you all had an enjoyable and safe summer!
Now that we have had a few successful outdoor services, we are ready to move inside the building for our annual beloved water service in gathering.
In order to continue to stay safe and prevent spread of COVID, we are asking all participants to please adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Upon your arrival, please check in at the Welcome desk at the entrance to the UU Center to complete your Health and Safety pledge using the QR code (paper copies of the pledge will also be available)
2. Regardless of vaccination status, ALL participants must wear masks/ acceptable face coverings at all times while inside the UU Center building
3. Within the sanctuary, we will be asking participants to sit 6 apart. Household contacts may sit close together
4. In order to limit droplet spread, congregants will be asked to hum along with the hymns
5. There will be no formal coffee hour
6. After the service, we will encourage participants to exit out the East doors leading on to the deck (those with mobility needs may exit through the usual “front” / West facing doors.
7. We encourage everyone to continue conversations outside; however, due to New Jersey still being in the “High risk” range for COVID transmission, we are still asking everyone to continue to keep your masks on if you are engaging in outdoor conversations.
