Hello Wrangler families,

Here we go, on to semester two!

We will be reflecting on our growth and setting new goals for learning this week along with resetting expectations for campus procedures and behavior.

I want to remind you that the start of the semester is a fresh start in many ways. Students get a fresh start with ID infractions, tardies, and grades. It's a clean slate! We will be encouraging our Wranglers to reflect on what they want to improve and plan some steps for reaching that goal. We hope you will have those conversations as well.

One reminder: if your student missed an exam, our process for making up exams is to have students come up on the teacher prep and planning day, January 2, at 9 AM. Students will take their test(s) and then contact parent for pick up.

Please reach out to your students' teachers if you have any concerns regarding academics -- teachers report back on January 2. Report cards will be posted in Skyward on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Finally, a big congratulations to 7th grader, Jace James -- see below for details on this Junior World Champion!

SBMS counselors are lining up course selection meetings. We would like to invite you as a parent/guardian to attend your student’s advising session. When you are scheduling your advising time, please be sure to include your child’s name and indicate whether you would like to meet in person, via phone, or virtually in the notes section before submitting.

If you have not yet scheduled an advising session, we would like to invite you as a parent/guardian to attend your student’s advising session and you can attend in-person, virtually or by phone call. SBMS's very own Jace James proudly represented Wrangler country at the Junior National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, NV. Jace won Thursday’s 12-and-under breakaway roping shootout with a 2.29-second run. Jace then won the second go-round with a 2.25-second run to qualify for the finals. There was no stopping this cowboy who is now the Junior World Champion!

Comal ISD is looking for the brightest and the best to join our amazing community. If you or someone you know wants to join the best school district around, we encourage you to bring your resume to our latest job fair on Monday, January 8th from 5-6:30pm at Support Services in New Braunfels.

Your SBMS Silver Stars are hosting their annual Daddy Daughter Dance on Saturday, February 10th. Tickets are on sale now.

We are very excited to let you know about the School Pantry Program that is being made available at every Comal ISD campus. This program will allow students to receive food assistance on a weekly basis at no cost to you or your child’s school. Food will be delivered to your child’s campus each week and then bagged so that it can easily be sent home on Friday and enjoyed. Please email Katie Gaston at katherine.gaston@comalisd.org if you are interested in this program and an intake form will be sent home with your child.

It is always a great pleasure to recognize and congratulate student-athletes who have exhibited remarkable performance and discipline. That being said, we would like to congratulate our two student athletes of the month for their outstanding drive and dedication both on and off the court: 8th grader Maddison Garza and 7th grader Ryleigh Keith.

We also wish to recognize our Wrangler Player of the Week, Myah Mires.
