Next Priority . . . Conferences
Parents,
Thank you for joining us and supporting our back to school events this fall! We have had a great turn out at each event. We are looking forward to seeing you again for parent/teacher conferences. These fall conferences are an important opportunity to collaborate regarding your child’s learning this year. You will take a look at how your child is doing now and set goals for growth in key areas specific to your child’s strengths, weaknesses and interests. In many cases, teachers will ask that older students attend the conference with their parents in order to be an active member in the conversation. Please watch for messages from your child’s teacher regarding conferences. During the week of October 7th children will attend full days of school on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday afternoon/evening and throughout the day on Wednesday, teachers and specialists will be available to meet with families to hold conferences. Please make this important time a priority in your schedules. Conference sign-ups will be online again this year through the FamilyLink program. You will receive an email on Friday, September 27th at 6:00 pm indicating how to go in and sign up. Thanks again for making our school conference schedule a priority in your family’s busy life.
Have a great weekend,
Mrs. Donegan
Oregon Statewide Assessments
Your 4th or 5th grader is bringing home the results from last spring's Oregon Statewide Assessments (OSAS) in English Language Arts and Mathematics today. There is a letter explaining our district's use of the assessment and a sheet that helps to explain the scoring levels. The Science Assessments have not been released yet. When they are we will send those home as well.

Music News From Mr. Compton
On Thursday, we had a special guest make an appearance at our morning meeting. His name is Kyle Fulton and he is a member of the Blue Man Group in New York City. We have a local connection to Kyle, because he grew up in our neighborhood and went to Stafford, Athey Creek, and West Linn High School. Kyle was able to talk to our students and answer some of their questions about the Blue Man Group. I shared with Kyle the learning we are doing around making instruments from PVC tubing, just like the Blue Man Group. It will be great to keep in touch with Kyle and share our instrument creations! See a photo below of Kyle and Mr. C in the music room on 9/19/19.
