We are looking forward to Parcells Biggest Fundraiser this weekend. Our Holiday Baazar is on December 2nd from 9-4. Please stop by and get some holiday shopping done while supporting Parcells PTO!

As the holiday season is approaching, we are planning many fun activities here at Parcells. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be showing some holiday movies to our students and providing our teachers a well deserved gift of time. All of the movies will be rated PG or less. If you would not like your child to participate in the viewing of holiday movies, please reach out and let us know.

48th Parcells Holiday Bazaar & Craft Fair

GPPSS Employees enter for free with their badge.

All others pay $3.00 PP at the door.

This years book fair will start on December 2 at the Holiday Bazaar from 9:00 - 4:00 PM.

It will run the remainder of the week December 4 -8 during school hours in the library.

This year's Book Fair is going to be epic! More Books. More Choices. More Fun. Start exploring together at school's Book Fair. Volunteer sign ups can be found here!

As many of you already know, Career Day is scheduled for January 19th 2024 and we have secured an amazing group of presenters. Beginning next week, counselors will work with your students to select their top 6 choices (out of 42 presenters) during their Social Studies classes.

Students have been introduced to all 42 careers during Advisory Class this past week. They all have been given a copy of the careers and a brief description of each career. In addition, this list has been shared in their grade level Schoology page, as well as the slide deck that was created for their Advisory class.

Take a look at our amazing opportunities and sit down with your students to help them identify their top 6 choices. Students will only have this one opportunity to select their choices.

Monday December 4th: 5th grade selections

Tuesday December 5th: 7th grade selections

Wednesday December 6th 6th grade selections

Thursday December 7th: 8th grade selections

Friday December 8th: make up sessions TBD

Career Day allows each student the opportunity to participate in 4 speaker sessions (each session is 25 minutes). The students will select their top 6, and we will do our best to secure 2 of the 6 selected. Students will not know their Career Day schedule selections until the morning of Career Day, and we will not be facilitating changes due to the enormity of this conference-style event.

We are so excited to have had such tremendous support and response from our Parcells staff and community.

NAVIANCE: Grades 6-8

Beginning next week, Counselors will introduce grade-level specific NAVIANCE Career Exploration. THis is a GPPS wide program for every Parcells student in 6th to 8th grade. Your students will be doing self exploration regarding learning styles, career paths, a strengths explorer and post-secondary paths.

These lessons will concur with our Career Day 2024 speaker selection process. We are looking forward to a very busy and exciting week with all our students in their Social Studies classes.

• Please call the ATTENDANCE LINE 313-432-4601 if your child will be absent or signed out early or email hargera@gpschools.org. This is very important for the safety of your children. We need to know if they are not going to be at school and the reason.

• After the school bell rings in the morning the only entrance that should be used is the one along Sunningdale at the end of the GP Woods Library Parking Lot. The door is called the H door and it is PARCELLS SECURE ENTRANCE. This is also the door that students should come in if they are late or parents should come in if needing to enter the building during the school day.

Michigan providing free breakfast and lunch for students in 2023-24

All students in Michigan public schools will be able to receive one breakfast and one lunch daily at no cost for the 2023-24 School Year.

Important things to know:

• Students must have three out of the five food groups for the meal to be free.
• There will still be a charge for milk only and ala carte purchases.
• Student accounts WILL NOT be allowed to go negative.
• Families who would qualify for free or reduced meals should still fill out an application online. You can log in to the K-12 preregistration forms to do so.
• IF YOU CHILD WOULD LIKE TO BUY AN ADDITIONAL ENTREE - $2.00
• ADDITIONAL FULL ENTREE- $3.35

• The site defaults to North High School. Use the "Schools" dropdown menu to select your school.
• Then click "Menu." Use the arrow to move to the month you want to view. Please note that menus are currently available for the month of September only.
• Nutritional information is available in the right hand column if viewing on your computer, or below the menu item if viewing on your phone.
