Richey First Take
Sunday, January 14 , 2024
Winner Winner
We are delighted to announce that our dedicated educator, Lisa Reynolds, has emerged victorious in the Hertrich Cash for Class Contest! Through the generous support of Hertrich's 6th Annual Cash for Class initiative, we are thrilled to receive a substantial grant to bring our classroom aspirations to life at Richey Elementary School. Let's extend heartfelt congratulations to Lisa and her remarkable students for their tireless efforts in securing these funds for our educational space. Every participant crafted a compelling video, and the public chose the deserving winner.
Ms. Reynolds is going to use the money towards the cooperative play centers in her classroom. Congratulations Ms. Reynolds!
Nominate a Teacher for Teacher of the Year!
We are seeking nominations for the 2025 Red Clay Teacher of the Year. Being selected as a Teacher of the Year is one of the highest honors the district bestows on Red Clay teachers.

PTO Glow Dance Party
Spirit Day
Mark your calendars! Richey PTO is hosting a Glow Party and Dance for the students on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:15 pm.
Bust out your glow sticks and neon shirts. We can’t wait to see your dance moves!
Students will need to have a parent or guardian with them at the dance the entire night.
Students will be split up by grade (K-2 and 3-5). K-2 will start in the cafeteria (DJ) while 3-5 will start in the gym (Glow Party with Black Lights). Then they will switch. Each group will get an hour in each room.
If you have students in different groups, then can choose one group to stay with together or stay in their own group.
Any questions, please reach out to the PTO at richeypto@gmail.com.

Cold Weather
The weather is getting colder. Please send your child in with a coat every day. We will be going outside for recess daily.
Also for the students who bring Chromebooks back and forth to school daily please do not leave your Chromebook in the car overnight. It can damage the battery and the screen.
Thank you!
First Avenue
Richey Families,
Due to safety concerns, as of October 23, 2023, we are asking parents to no longer park on First Avenue closest to the school. No one was injured but we want to ensure that we are keeping our students safe as they are walking from school to home.
This street does not have sidewalks and our students have to walk in the street while cars are traveling in and out.
Please assist us with keeping our students safe as they are dismissed from school. You may park in a different location or you are able to join our carline.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Johnson or Ms. Burrows.
