WBSD Weekly Update

Friday, March 24
Dear Team WB,
As we welcome the arrival of spring, I wanted to wish you a wonderful and restful spring break. This is the time of year when the days get longer, the weather gets warmer, and we begin to see new growth all around us. I hope that our students, families, and staff members are able to take some time to enjoy the beauty of this season and recharge before the final push to the end of the school year.
I also want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for this community and your support throughout the year. Our community and our families play a crucial role in the education and development of our students, and your involvement and support are greatly appreciated. Our school community is made up of many different people, but we all share a common goal to provide our students with the best possible education and opportunities. This community is a special place and I continue to be impressed by our students’ creativity, energy, and passion.
As we look ahead to the final months of the school year, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for our students. We have important events and activities planned, and I know that our students will continue to achieve great things as they work hard to pursue their goals. I encourage you to stay involved in your child’s education, attend school events and meetings, and to communicate with your child’s teachers and administrators. Together, we can ensure that our students have the support and resources they need to succeed.
On behalf of myself, the Board of Education, and the entire West Bloomfield School District, we wish you a wonderful Spring Break. Please take some time to relax, recharge and enjoy the new season with your loved ones. Thank you for all that you do for our school community. I look forward to our continued work together. We cannot wait to see you on Monday, April 3 when classes resume.
In Education,

Attention WBSD Families
We value student feedback and voice. In order to gain a better understanding of our students' experience in our schools and as a part of our Strategic Plan, we will survey students in grades 3-12 through the Panorama platform. Our survey window will be from April 10 - April 21. If you completed the opt-out form in the fall, then your student(s) will not be given the survey. Additionally, please watch your email for a WBSD Family feedback survey, we want to hear from you too!

Congratulations Jeannette Hawley
Jeannette teaches second grade at Doherty Elementary and is an exemplary teacher leader in the District. Jeannette continues to serve as a reliable, knowledgeable, and impactful Professional Learning Community leader for the second-grade team at Doherty. She goes above and beyond to ensure that each of her team members have the resources, data, and guidance they need to deliver high-quality instruction across the entire second grade.
Recently, Jeannette has taken community involvement to the next level. To celebrate National Reading Month, she created an awesome system that allows parents, families, and community members to share their favorite read-aloud with her class on a daily basis during the month of March. This allowed her students to see the positive impact of literacy and how it extends beyond her classroom walls. Jeannette is a dynamic Contributor, Collaborator, Critical Thinker, and Communicator that leaves a lasting impact on anyone that meets her, and her heart of gold inspires us all.
Congratulations, Lana Salahie

WBHS All-Time Leading Scorer in Ice Hockey - Ryan Denawetz
Senior Ryan Denawetz has had quite the high school hockey career. As a 4 year Varsity player and 2 year captain, Ryan tallied 49 goals and 48 assists for 97 career points, which now puts his name atop of the West Bloomfield Hockey Record Books.
Ryan played an important role on the team each year. As a natural winger, we asked him to move outside his comfort zone many times to play different positions during important parts of tight games. He never doubted any decisions that were made and often capitalized from foreign parts of the ice.
Ryan’s most memorable moment during his 4 year career was this season when he buried 2 goals in a 4-3 overtime win against rival Bloomfield, marking the first time in his career that he beat them.
Off the ice Ryan has excelled even more. Carrying his 3.9 GPA with him, he plans to attend Kent State University next year in their Aeronautics and Professional Pilot Program as a Merit Scholar.
We’re sad to see Ryan graduate, as he will create a huge void in our lineup, but we are very excited to see what the future has in store him! Congrats to Ryan and the Denawetz family for an outstanding 4 years!
