Chameleons RISE: Raising Intentionality Strengthening Expectations for students, teachers, administration, and families.
Dear GQES Families,
Thank you for sending your child to us every day, on time, and ready to learn! While this is a short week, we have a lot planned for those two days. On Monday, 11/20/23, we are having our Annual Turkey Trot. See this flyer Turkey Trot Flyer for times for our event as well as a link to donate if you wish. The Turkey Trot is a good time for fun and fellowship and some physical fitness too!
On Tuesday, 11/21/23, we are having a full on "Stemersion" (STEM IMMERSION) Day where Kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, and fourth grade students are connecting their learning from a recent field trip to the Winchester Regional Airport with special activities related to Computer Science. It will be a lot of learning for sure!
No School on Wednesday, 11/22/23.
No School on Thursday, 11/23/23.
No School on Friday, 11/24/23.
Enjoy this time off with friends and family!
Please know we value your help as a partner in your child's education. We are very grateful to have parents ask for us to send work home so they can help their child gain skills and/or increase their knowledge, especially if the child is needing more help. Always, stay in contact with your child's teacher to know what your child is learning. Here is a set of strategies to partner in your child's learning at school: Ways to help your child be successful
Let's look ahead! After the mini-vacation, we have a wonderful Steam Night planned for Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 5:00-6:30pm. There will be food available to purchase from 'Tacos El Primo!" We hope to see you at our STEAM night with the Discovery Museum on 11/30/23!
Also, let's talk about weather. Make sure your child is dressed for the cooler temperatures (coats, gloves, hats, boots, etc.). If you need assistance, please let us know. Just call our main office at 540-662-3575. We will work with you to find assistance, if possible.
In addition, if the school district cancels school for weather, we will share our learning plan for students. Right now, grades K-2 will receive a paper packet of work to do if we are home and there is no school. Grades 3-4 may also have a packet of work and/or Chromebooks may be sent home. Always, stay in contact with your child's teacher. Each teacher will communicate the school's learning plan for the day if schools are closed due to inclement weather.
Last.....
- Always, always support your child's positive behavior by encouraging your child to show our expectations at GQES: smiling faces, listening ears, helping hands, respecting boundaries and trying our best on all learning tasks.
More information:
- Please update your child's emergency contacts, addresses, custody and/or phone numbers as changes may arise.
If you have questions or concerns, always feel free to contact us at 540-662-3575. We are glad to see your child at school on time and ready to learn every day! Thank you for partnering with us to help your child thrive!
Sincerely,
Joanie Hovatter
