K Mrs. Fisher's PM students enjoy asking friends questions about their show and tell items. This is a great way to build communication skills of asking and telling.
Grade 1: Mrs. Kennedy's students used the unit measure to track how far a snail traveled on graph paper. Students were working in groups for the lesson.
Grade 2: Mrs. Keffer's students used hands and hearts to learn multiplication and division concepts this week.
Grade 3: Mrs. Grabfelder's students shopped during their math lesson for items in the Arrowhead store.
Grade 4: Mrs. Craig's students learned how to use a protractor to measure angles.
Mrs. Balaguer- Peirnock's first grade challenge students read a story about the Parthenon then built their own model of a similar building.

MSD Backpack Program
The Methacton Backpack program is up and running in each of our buildings and serves district families in need with supplemental food and non-food items. This program helps create food stability for breakfast and lunch when our students are not in school. Weekly, the program sends home a bag of breakfast, lunch, and snack items for the weekend and holiday breaks for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Families who qualify for free/reduced meals are eligible to participate in the Backpack Program. Please contact the school counselor if you would like to register your child for the Backpack program.
In order to continue to sustain the program please consider contributing and donating items to the program. Items can be donated directly to the school or you can place an order through Amazon and ship it directly to our school from the Amazon page.

Please open the PDF document below for information about the District's Backpack Program
The Methacton School District is once again partnering with the GIANT Company on a special school program to help support our students. From now through February 28, 2022, GIANT customers can “ROUND UP AT THE REGISTER” to support the Methacton Backpack Program. Customers at the local GIANT can “round up” their grocery total at the register and the cumulative total of all the “spare change” donated will go into a fund for the Methacton School District. Last year, this fundraiser awarded more than $6,600 to the Methacton Backpack Program.
Health and Safety Plan
The school district recently adopted an update to the health and safety plan.
Masks are required to be worn inside the building.

Important Bus Rider Information
Dear Arrowhead Families,
Just a reminder that students must ride home on the buses that they are assigned. Notes from the parents giving them permission to ride home on another bus is not permissible. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Student Birthdays
Hi Arrowhead families,
For safety reasons, we are not permitting edible birthday treats to be brought into school. We realize that birthdays are special to our students and families. We appreciate your support.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS AND FAMILIES: Standards Based Report Card
The Methacton School District uses a standards-based grading system for students in grades K-4. This system helps us more accurately measure students’ mastery of PA Core Academic Standards in all subjects. The elementary report cards have been revised to reflect the changes to the state standards and Methacton’s curricula. The goal of this approach to reporting is to provide parents, students, and teachers with a detailed picture of what students know and are able to demonstrate. The information provided on the report card encourages dialogue about areas of strength and need, and how our students can continue to grow academically.
This article, Seven Reasons for Standards-Based Grading, explains more about standards-based grading.
As your child’s teacher explained during our Back-to-School night, I CAN statements have been developed to share with you what skills your child is being assessed on and the expectation of mastery for each trimester. The I CAN statements are listed on our MSD Family Center.
Please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions.
