Downingtown Cyber Academy Update
January 12, 2024
Dear DCA Families,
We hope that you all have recovered from the storm this week! It is possible that we will have another weather event on Tuesday. If you experience any outages and are unable to access the coursework, please reach out to your teachers. It is a good idea to download the applications such as Schoology and Infinite Campus to your mobile devices so that you can maintain communication.
Wednesday's inclement weather day has shifted our instructional calendar slightly.
The end of Marking Period 2 will now be on January 19. New students to the DCA will begin on January 22. April 23rd is now a student day and classes will be held. Stay tuned for additional updates throughout the winter season.
Students who are missing assignments must be sure to get them in ASAP. Please communicate with teachers to arrange agreements for accepting work that may be late. They have an arduous task to get everything graded and submitted on time, so please be proactive!
Lastly, if you participate in any service activities on MLK Day on Monday, January 15th, please let us know and share a pic or two by sending the information to cyberacademy@dasd.org.
Have a productive and peaceful weekend!
Fondly,
Dr. Kecia Nesmith, Principal and Curriculum Supervisor
Dr. Kristie Burk, Coordinator for Online & Blended Learning
Week 19 and Marking Period 2 end on Friday, January 19th.

Please note the schedule below as we finish up the first half of the school year.

January 19 (Fri) - Week 19 work due by 3 p.m.

Inclement Day Reminder!
- DCA middle and high school teachers will hold their Zooms on the DE/DW two-hour delay bell schedule. Teachers will post their adjusted times in the Schoology calendar.
If there is a Flexible Instructional Day (FID) in the district:
- DCA middle school classes will be asynchronous. Full-time DCA middle school teachers will hold office hours that will be posted in the Schoology calendar.
- DCA high school classes will remain asynchronous. Teachers with scheduled office hours should still hold them on the Downingtown High School FID Bell Schedule (below).
Because a FID is considered a school day, students with scheduled DCA classes must log their attendance in Infinite Campus between 5 am and 11 pm on this day or they will be marked absent. If students are unable to attend due to power outages or other issues, parents can send an excuse note to cyber_attendance@dasd.org.
The DCA will follow the Downingtown High School FID schedule :
Period 1 - 8:50 - 9:25
Period 2 - 9:28 - 10:00
Period 3 - 10:03 - 10:35

Period 6 - 11:48 - 12:20
Period 7 - 12:23 - 12:55
Period 8 -12:58 - 1:30

- Log into Infinite Campus to select your courses. Courses ending in a "C" are cyber courses.
