PRAYER
A Note from Mrs. Longden
We start our Lenten journey on Ash Wednesday, March 2nd. We hear the instruction that we are to "pray, fast, and give alms (charity)." We don't do this for other people to see or notice but rather, to offer a gift to God that only He can see. Just as Jesus prayed and fasted in the desert for 40 days, we pray and fast in Lent and ask God to renew us in our Christian faith as we prepare to remember the great events of Easter. Lent helps us to put the Christian life into a biblical perspective. It's a time to practice saying "no" to ourselves in little things so we can say a bigger "yes" to God in the bigger decisions of life. Check out the various events we offer during Lent, both at school and church, to help us in this graced time of preparation.
I am thankful for our professional staff who work toward educational goals, planning around the interruptions and safety protocols. I am grateful for the awareness, vigilance, and cooperation of the parents who keep children home when ill so that germs do not spread to our teachers and the other students. I am also thankful to the people who have given extra donations that have helped keep us afloat with all of the additional expenses from COVID, while also supporting our normal operational budget.
I am very proud of our school community and thank GOD every day for the blessings that He has given this year to Holy Trinity.
We are now at the time of the year where we need to think ahead to next fall. We are setting in place our classes and staffing and moving forward. It is critical that we keep our programs going strong, our enrollment up, and stay positive. I ask you to continue to support our school and to help us in the best ways that you can. We appreciate you!
Blessings,
Mrs. Longden
CATHOLIC COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANT
Holy Trinity Catholic School received a grant from The Catholic Community Foundation to help with tuition assistance. This money is being offered to all students for the 2022-2023 school year. An application is available to be filled out by the children and is being sent home in the home folders today. Each child should fill out the questions on their own. Thank you to The Catholic Community Foundation! Visit legaciesoffaith.org to learn more about The Catholic Community Foundation. See the attached letter that will be in the home folder as well. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Longden.
ITBS Testing
Students in Grades 2-8 will be taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills beginning on Tuesday, March 1st. Teachers have created schedules to do different testing throughout March 1st-17th. Testing will not happen on each day for each class. Please remember to avoid planning appointments and trips during this time. We will work to get all make-up tests done for students that are absent. Any questions, please reach out to the office.

Lent/ Ash Wednesday
This marks the start of Lent.
This year’s theme, 40 Days in the Desert with Jesus, will help us to focus on Christ’s example of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as we battle the many temptations present in our world today.
See the attached letter with more information regarding activities happening at school. A copy will be sent home in Home Folders today.

As it will likely be a busy day at Cousins, please consider ordering chips with the subs instead of fries or cheese curds, as these will take longer. Thank you.
