A Message from the Principal
Chapman families,
Here is our newsletter for the week of January 3, 2023. There are many student celebrations and fun moments shared below from December. There are also a few new items for your review.
As your family begins winter break, I'd like to thank you for all that you do for our Chapman School Community and wish your family a joyous holiday season and a happy and healthy 2023!
Yours in partnership,
Mrs. Harrell
Winter Break
Students will return on January 3, 2023. We wish everyone a warm and restful break!
Grinch Day
On Thursday, Chapman students and staff enjoyed Grinch Day. The students viewed the movie in the comfort of their PJs. The Grinch himself (Principal Harrell) even paid a visit during morning arrival (after his heart grew three sizes bigger of course!).
The movie The Grinch was chosen as it has themes that connect to PBIS at Chapman. Part of PBIS is modeling and teaching being a respectful and inclusive classmate and member of our school community. In the movie The Grinch, he experiences hurt and feeling left out at Christmas time and tries to take that from others. He is shown kindness and experiences understanding and being included. This is a message we help model and teach our students when working with others whether that is in classrooms through activities or while playing with others during recess. As a reward for our school showing PRIDE as a school community this first semester, students watched The Grinch school-wide and participated in class discussions connecting the message of the movie to our school community and PRIDE!
Winter Band & Orchestra Concert!
Thank you Mr. Chidsey and Mr. Simul for the work you do with our fifth grade band and orchestra students! They have learned so much in such a short time and did wonderful for their first performance!
First Grade Gingerbread Houses!
First graders made gingerbread houses and they were so very creative, not one looking like another!
School Holiday Sing Along!
Mrs. Strong led our school in a sign along with each grade level having a special part. We sang songs from many different kinds of holiday celebrations, used sign language and played instruments!
PTA Holiday Parties!
Thank you to all of our parent volunteers for sending in materials, food or being a volunteer during our parties. We appreciate all that you do for our students!

Winter Weather Reminder
Now that the weather has officially cooled down, please make sure that students are dressed weather appropriate for recess. Students will go outdoors unless the temperature, including wind chill, is below 20 degrees. Please also write your child's name in coats and hats. This allows us to return lost or misplaced items back to the correct student.
