NCCVT Unity Day, a day designed by students for students to learn, lead, and of course unite. The theme for this year was Advocacy-Impact-Change. During the opening session, attendees heard from student speakers from each of our four high schools as well as Superintendent Jones and keynote speaker Chris Collins. Then, the students broke out into smaller work sessions, facilitated by their peers, to discuss Getting at the Root of What Divides Us and What Change Would You Advocate For at NCCVT.

Maiss Hussein & Rikye Jenkins captivate the crowd with their remarks. Both students are lead members of our DEI affinity groups.

October 15- Sept 15, 2023

Maiss Hussein was a student speaker at the ground breaking ceremony on Sept 29, 2023. She also performed at the Delaware Art Museum in honor of the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop on October 7th. Just a few days later she announced that she will also be competing in the upcoming United States Senate Youth Program. Go Maiss!

Planning is currently taking place for the next BSU Summit. If you know any students are interested in being a part of the planning committee, please have them reach out to Dr. Tinch. For any staff that would like to show their support by joining the virtual meetings, please see me as well.
