The Wigwam Express
February 2024
A Message from the Principal
Dear Jaguar Families,
Principal's List-We are so proud of our students who made Principal's List for the second quarter. We had a total of 100 students who finished the quarter with a 4.0. Those students were recognized during the last week of January and awarded a certificate and a snack. Congratulations!
Spelling Bee-Congratulations go out to our Wigwam Creek Spelling Bee winners. The following students represented Wigwam at the district Spelling Bee:
- 6th Grade: Kaycen Tavis, Andras Trepak, Jack Sunu
- 7th Grade: David Havrilla, Zara Killinger, Sofia Pante
- 8th Grade: Samara Fields, Justin Deny, Mason Schibler, Megan Smush
Jaguar Athletes-Another round of applause for all of our Winter Athletes:
- All 4 basketball of our basketball teams made it to the conference playoffs.
- 6th/7th grade boys basketball was the runner up as they made it to the championship game.
- Thank you to our coaches, Coach Adamson, Coach Lee, Coach Pruszynski, and Coach Saunders for their dedication to our students. Your hard work and effort are appreciated!
- Thank you to Mr. Corella and Coach Hokaj for supervising our games and running the scoreboard!
WAY TO GO JAGUARS!
Perfect Attendance-Students who had perfect attendance during 2nd quarter have earned an additional 15-minute recess to be awarded during the week of February 5th.
Unexcused Tardies-We are averaging 25-30 unexcused tardies each day. Please remember, if your child is late to school, they must be signed in by an adult for the tardy to be excused. More than 3 unexcused tardies in one week will result in an after-school detention for your student. Students must arrive at school on time.
Cell Phones and Electronic Devices-Please remind your students of the following rule:
- Cell phones and electronic devices are to remain silenced and kept in their lockers during the school day. This includes AirPods.
- We are seeing a significant increase in the use of electronic devices during instruction and throughout the day. This interferes with the learning environment of all students. The use of electronic devices throughout the school day is strictly prohibited. If your child needs to contact a family member they can do so with permission from an adult.
- We are not responsible for lost or stolen devices.
Thank you and have a great month.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Tassin and the Wigwam Creek Staff
