Principal's Message

OMS Families,

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the parents in the vehicle drop-off line this morning. While the rain can back things up a little bit in the parking lot, we appreciate the families who pulled their vehicles all the way forward and made for a smooth arrival. Thank you for your patience.

We would also like to give a shout-out to our OMS PTA! On Tuesday evening, our PTA was given the highest honor of a Blue Diamond Award at the Northwest Cook Region District 37 PTA Awards Dinner. We appreciate all the time and dedication our parent community provides to support our students. This is an incredible place to learn, grow, and play!

Just a friendly reminder: There is no school on Monday, October 14th. We will see the students on Tuesday!

Pick Up/Drop Off Reminder

Parents driving their child(ren) to school may only drop off students on the north side of the school. At the request of our neighbors, the village posted signs prohibiting student drop-off and pick-up in the following areas. Please help us be respectful of our neighbors by dropping-off and picking-up only on the north side.

Student Drop-off and Pick-up Prohibited signs are posted along Belmont, Clarendon, Pine Avenue and Olive Street between Arlington Heights Road and Douglas Street.
No parking is allowed on Olive Street during school/CAP hours.

Coyote Season

We are aware that coyotes have been sighted on OMS fields and in Greens Park in the early morning hours.

Arlington Heights animal control is aware of coyotes in the area. Animal Control has seen the animals and noted they continue to act normally and are timid around people. In general, they stated that coyotes are very common and are easily scared off by people making noise.

Attached is a reference guide if someone is in close quarters with a coyote and how to scare them off.

If you witness a coyote that appears sick or does not respond to the attached guide, please call 911 or the animal control number at 847-368-5300.

State of Illinois Physical Exam and Vision exam forms are due October 15th.

There are only 6 more school days to get forms turned in! Please turn in the completed forms as soon as possible.

If your child is missing a form they will not be able to attend school on Tuesday, October 15th.

Robert Crown - Fifth Grade Parent Night

There is an upcoming parent night on November 12, 2019 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Dunton Administration Building (1200 S. Dunton Ave.) to inform parents of fifth grade students on the health and drug prevention education programs (Puberty I- Understanding Changes, Life Begins, and the Science Behind Drugs) that will take place this year.

Halloween Parade & Parties

Our Halloween celebrations will be held on Thursday, October 31st. The parade will begin at 1:30 pm with classroom parties immediately following. Please use the following links to indicate your child's lunch plans and ability to participate in the parade and parties. A Halloween permission form must be completed for each of your OMS students by THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24th. Classroom teachers and PTA room reps. will be sharing additional details about the day in the coming weeks.
