October 2023
Principal Message
Dear Ottawa Families,
It is hard to believe we are already half way through October. We are well on our way! The students have been working hard in the classroom, but also throughout the school by following the Full Value Agreement. It is great to see that routines are in place and teachers are focusing on engaging students in grade level curriculum & content to help them grow as learners!
During the first month of school we were able to have students complete assessments to help us plan for impactful instruction around grade level standards and individual needs of students. Last week were Parent Teacher Conferences. If you have further questions about your child's progress, supports, or grade level expectations, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Make sure to check out the upcoming events at the end of the Ottawa News so you don't miss out on our annual PTO events!
We look forward to seeing you at Ottawa!

Bus Loop: The bus loop is ONLY for busses and Johnson Transportation. Please do NOT drop off students or pick up students in the bus loop.
Fire Safety Prevention Week
Last week the City of Petoskey visited all of the Elementary schools to talk about fire safety. A huge thank you to the City of Petoskey and the fire department for educating our students in Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade about important safety rules, routines, and what to do in an emergency. Please take time to talk to your children about fire safety and help them understand what they should do at home in an emergency.
Apple Crunch Day with Nutrition Services
Thursday October 12th was Apple Crunch Day. At lunch recess, students had the opportunity to create a school wide apple tree using apples as stamps. We can't wait to display our "Ottawa Apple Tree" in the hallway. This was truly a work of art as a TEAM!
