North Syracuse Central School District's Electronic News
Issue #94 | June 23, 2023
Hello North Syracuse Central School District parents, guardians, teachers and staff,
Tonight we will begin the "official" celebrations for the Cicero-North Syracuse High School Class of 2023 with a commencement ceremony at the NYS Fair Expo Center. The ceremony will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Another school year has gone by too quickly and I can’t help feeling a little sad but I am even more excited about the great things that are still to come.
We are holding our first full Chip Camp with Micron next week. So many staff have been working diligently to make the event a reality and they deserve tremendous thanks for their efforts. Our partnership with Micron is growing stronger and will ultimately provide our students with unique and wonderful opportunities.
In the next few weeks we will be sending out a District Dispatch newsletter highlighting our Class of 2023 and sharing highlights of the past year. I encourage you to thoroughly read your newsletter and celebrate the good things that are consistently happening here in the NSCSD.
We have many academic, social, athletic and food service programs continuing throughout the summer and we will be reaching out with news and updates. For those of you taking time off, I wish you a wonderful and restful summer. For our students moving on to new things, congratulations! I wish you happiness and success and I encourage you to always let the Northstar guide you home.
Sincerely,
Daniel D. Bowles, Superintendent of Schools

C-NS High School Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Alicia Frisbie shared some pictures from her “Hospitality and Pastry Arts” course.
The pictures are from various labs the class did including: “Cupcake Wars” where students made themed cupcakes that were judged by staff, “Flood Cookies” where students learned how to make royal icing and decorated sugar cookies, and “Hors D'oeuvre’s” where one group of students made the Indian dish Pani Puri.
Other labs completed include cake rolls, fruit galettes, focaccia bread art, homemade pastry cream, and slice and bake cookie designs.
Thank you to Alicia for sharing these delicious-looking pictures!
Lakeshore Road Elementary School PTO Sunshine Chairperson Angel Fikes recently shared pictures from the school's Flag Day Celebration. She said that the band played and students sang and they even had a military color guard come in for the event. She shared that, "Our veterans families also told us what the flag means to them."
