UEN Course Spotlight - The AI Frontier

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made a remarkable entry into education, leaving educators with a mix of emotions. In this course, we’ll help you navigate this new frontier by looking at different types of AI and how they’re used, the ethical challenges and dilemmas of AI in education, how AI changes teaching and learning, and how you can design activities and assessments with AI in mind. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about how AI fits, or doesn’t fit, into their teaching practice. Learn More

Educational Technology Endorsement Program

Educators are increasingly expected to exhibit skills and knowledge of using technology to enhance student learning. The UEN Educational Technology Endorsement Program is grounded in the USBE EdTech Competencies and the Utah Effective Teaching Standards. The Competency-Based Educational Technology Endorsement is divided into four courses. Participants will come away with a portfolio of work that aligns with each competency.

The conference provides hands-on and breakout sessions focusing on insights and interventions with strategies to provide professional learning to improve student outcomes. Sessions will focus on strengthening mental and behavioral health supports, student supports, grading practices, literacy best practices, strengthening the guaranteed curriculum at each school and developing a culture of investment.

NEW Course - The AI Frontier

UEN is excited to share a new free, self-paced course for Utah educators on Artificial Intelligence. The course can be completed at the educator's pace and at any time throughout the year.

The course starts by exploring what is AI, its history, and some of the main types of AI available to educators. With a basic understanding of what AI is, educators learn about the ethical implications of AI including policymaking, academic honesty, and intellectual property. In the second half of the course, educators learn how AI can be paired with existing strategies, roles, and projects in schools. The course then closes with an exploration of ways that educators could explore and use AI in their classrooms.

The AI Frontier is full of resources including AI, videos, articles, podcasts, and more. If you are interested, you can sign up starting today, May 18th, 2023, for the course. You can use the button below to sign up!
