One of the questions I’m always asked is what inspired me to write my debut novel, Wings of Ebony. My answer is usually about repressed processing and grieving the brutality toward Black and brown youth, and ultimately a desperation to see myself reflected on the pages of fiction.

- To begin, click the arrow button or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+A
- Enter the name of a site or a related word.
- To go to the open tab or close the tab, select the name of the site.
MBAEA Media Design Input

Period Clothing Kits
After struggling with my youngest to be sure he had clothing that matched the medieval period for an upcoming performance, I decided to highlight the period clothing kits. In SNAP, select media kit and narrow the results to learn more.
Civil War Kit
Includes adult clothing - confederate & union jackets, kepi, belt & buckle, suspenders, socks, shirt, vest, posters, artifact kit, canteen, cap box, games, currencies, newspapers, eating utensils and groom kit.
Colonial Kit
Includes adult clothing - apron, bodice, shoes, chemise, men's coat, shirt, long skirt, and breeches, cap, wigs, game and toys, posters, candles, money, (coins, etc.) groom kit, lantern, pistol, power horn, and documents
Crusader KitIncludes adult clothing - ladies and men's belts, cap, chemise, dress, gloves, shirt, pants, men and women shoes, veil, tunic, candles, drum, helmet, sinew, tankard, and eating utensils
Medieval Kit
Includes adult clothing - dress, tunic & hood, pants, belts, and men's and ladies shoes, wooden bowl, candle, candlesticks and lantern
Lewis and Clark Kit
Includes adult clothing - hunters bag, belt & buckle, hunters coat, flannel, frontier hat, trousers and shirt. Trade items - iron, arrowhead, beads, bells, blanket, bracelet and more. Equipment items - bullet, oil cloth, leather bags, bottle, bowl, bullet 54 and more.

Future Ready Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarship
With graduation quickly approaching, it’s critical to get the word out to more high school seniors that the Last-Dollar Scholarship covers tuition for postsecondary credentials up to two-year degrees leading to rewarding high-demand jobs.
