Week In Review and a Look Ahead: Friday, December 8, 2023
Principal's Message
I have been in education for over 26 years and something I consistently tell my friends and family is that it never really feels like the holiday season until I see and hear the performances of our students at their winter concerts. We are in the midst of our "concert season" and was able to enjoy our orchestra and choral concerts the past two weeks. Next Friday will be our band concert and I encourage you to come out and enjoy the show! Our students have not disappointed us this season and have performed beautifully. Thank you to our students and staff members for their time and efforts, as well as our families who support, encourage, and transport our musicians. Thank you!
Winter Orchestra Concert
Our combined East-West Middle School Orchestra ensembles put on a wonderful show on Friday, December 1 at BASH. Students played a variety of tunes to help kick off the winter concerts and performed beautifully to a large crowd. Congratulations to our performers and directors, Mrs. Anita Boyer and Mr. Chris Cinquini.
Winter Choral Concert
We were treated to our Choral Concert on Thursday evening. We heard from our various ensembles and were even treated to a sing-a-long to close out the show in a combined number from all of our singers. We had a great turn-out of families and friends in the audience which truly made for a "packed house!"

Spartans on the Warpath!
Students in Mr. Burks and Mr. Covington's social studies classes got a taste of the Spartan life this week. The students were marching as Spartan warriors in phalanx formation. The purpose of the activity was to show the students, on a small-scale, what the Greeks experienced and a bit of how the Greeks may have felt as they marched and chanted.
Lucas Schorle, Jayden Lindsey, Michael Solliday, and Jaxon Sweat.

PE Star Students
The Phys Ed Department would like to recognize their PE Stars for the month of November. These students are shining examples of how students should conduct themselves while in Physical Education. They are always participating to their fullest, being kind and helpful to their classmates, and show a deep passion for physical fitness. Congratulations to Avrie Dzielak in 6th grade, Bryce Franklin in 7th Grade, and Kiley Rokita in 8th Grade.

Winter Sports Competitions Begin
We are looking forward to next weeks winter athletic contests beginning for middle school. Spectators need to be mindful of the district expectations for attendance.
December Dance "Winter in Hollywood"
Student Council and TSA will be hosting the “Winter in Hollywood” dance on Friday, December 8th. The dance is from 7-9 PM and the cost is $5. There will be a bake sale at the dance (items sold for $0.50 and $1), and pictures will be available for $1 each.
Students were to have pre-purchased their tickets during lunch this week in order to attend. No students may buy a ticket at the door.
We will be following a special, more formal, dress code for this dance. Students may not wear jeans, sweatpants, or athletic pants. The dress code options are as follows:
- A collared shirt with dress pants or khakis. Ties are optional. Students may wear either dress shoes or sneakers.
- A dress, dress pants and blouse, or skirt and blouse. Dresses may have spaghetti straps, halter straps, or a single strap. Dresses may not be open-back or have any bare midriff or side cut-outs. All dresses/skirts must be the required length according to the district dress code. Students may wear dress shoes, flats, or sneakers.
All students should be dropped off at the back entrance by the gym. However, students will be dismissed out of all three entrances. When picking up students in multiple grade levels, please pick up at the highest grade level location.
- 8th grade will be picked up in the front loop.
- 7th grade will be picked up on the side tennis court lot.
- 6th grade will be picked up in the back by the gym.
