Message from the principal...
Happy Friday families, students, and staff!
This week we had our first virtual PTO meeting of the year! It was wonderful to connect again as a community! The support of our families and the positive relationships (new and old) stand out so clearly as a special part of what makes Clifford such a dynamic and loving school. Not only do we have the most supportive families we also have families working with our PTO, staff, and beyond to provide, connect, and create enriching programs, teacher/parent partnerships, and resources for our students! I continue to be humbled and honored to lead this community each year. Thank you for your trust, patience, and partnership.
I know these last few weeks have been bumpy for some but I have also heard from many families how well school is going for their students. Our teachers are deeply committed to this work and always go above and beyond for our kids. The Clifford staff work tirelessly to ensure an academically rich, socially and emotionally supportive, and a whole-child approach so our school program thrives at Clifford. Thank you for supporting us as we move through this unique process together. I miss you and your kids with all of my heart. I am also excited to meet our new Dolphins!
Looking forward to when we're all here at school again!
Happy Weekend!

We have always partnered closely with the families in our community to support student learning, and this year, that partnership is even more essential. Because we are asking students to take the Diagnostic at home, we’ll need family support to ensure they can log in, stay focused, and take the test with fidelity. Teachers will be in communication with families about when to begin these assessments. Additionally, use the following resources to help prepare for this work and to learn more about these assessments:
English Video / Family Guide (Sp) / Family Guide (En) / i-Ready Family Center
The Library is Open!! First Library Book Drive-Thru Distribution will be on Wednesday 9/16 from 10am until 4pm.
The drive-thru will be in the same area as the computer/textbook distribution was early this school year, in the driveway by library and MUB.
These will be happening every three (3) weeks on Wednesdays 9/16, 10/7, 10/28, 11/18 and 12/9.
Students will be able to access the Alexandria library program through their Clever accounts and place "HOLDS" thru the "Researcher/Scout" icon.
3rd-8th graders (and parents of K-2nd graders) can now check out books from the Clifford library using the online Alexandria library system. Please review the Library Book Check Out Process
Our first pickup day will be on Wednesday 9/16 from 10am until 4pm. Additional pickup days for the year will be October 7th, October 28th, November 11th, and December 9th.
A few key details:
- Each student will be able to "check out" up to 4 books and will have them for three weeks.
- K-2nd graders may have their parents/caregivers select the books for them since they will have more knowledge of books they have read, own, etc.
- 3rd thru 8th graders will be able to just choose their own books themselves.
- Students will have until Monday 9/14 at 12 noon to place books they would like to pick up on "HOLD". Any book put on hold after this time will not be available until the next library book distribution.

Supporting Parents at Home with PBIS!
Clifford School uses PBIS as a system of support and for teaching and learning. You can continue using PBIS or components of the PBIS model at home! See message and link below!
Families and caregivers should consider using positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) in their homes on a daily basis. It is especially helpful when events disrupt normal routines – events like worldwide health pandemics. This practice brief provides recommendations for families and caregivers on how to use PBIS to continue to support their students’ social and emotional growth and minimize behavioral disruptions in the home.
