Fresh Flowers for our Chalice Table
Now that we are into spring, and summer, let’s lift our spirits with displays of flowers in our view as we worship together. Many of you have access to flowers from your yards, or can purchase them, and might like to take a turn arranging them on our chalice table. Colby Tippins has created a simple way to do this: Sign up for a Sunday of your choice on the signup sheet at the back of the sanctuary. In the event that no one has taken a particular Sunday, Colby will continue to put plastic flowers from our collection on the table. We hope that many of you will use this opportunity to enhance our Sunday experience.

Explore our Monthly Theme
A Beautiful Cup of Coffee
One of the best ways to explore our monthly themes is to bring them into the conversations you have in your everyday life. Or to put it another way, our themes offer you the chance to deepen and enliven your conversations and relationships.
So here are some conversation starters rooted in the call the Nurture Beauty. Take them into a conversation with someone close to you, or engage them with a small circle of family or friends.
Remember: part of this exercise is about the insights that arise from meaningful conversation, but another part is to notice the beauty that arises when our conversations go beyond the weather and normal chit chat.
Conversation Starters about Nurturing Beauty:
- What is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen or experienced? How did it leave its mark on you?
- When did you first feel beautiful?
- Have you ever been healed by beauty?
- What do you wish your 16-year-old self knew about beauty?
- Do you think beauty can save or heal the world?
- Have you ever found beauty in the brokenness?
- Have you ever experienced a “beautiful goodbye”?
This Sunday
Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?
Lay speaker Paul Utts
These three questions from a popular UU hymn asks the questions that are the basis of almost all faith communities and, for that matter, much of scientific inquiry. But as our faith community enters a new phase, these are questions we need to ask ourselves. Paul will talk about where we came from and explore the questions of who we are as a community and where do we go from here. With our annual meeting only two weeks away, it’s time to take a good look at ourselves.
PLEASE NOTE: This service will be in person at UUCSJS and streamed live on our Facebook page. A recording will be available later in the day on our YouTube Channel.
