Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families--
In education, we often talk about how long it feels from January up to spring break. This time around, I can’t believe that stretch of time is already over!
I think we’re on to something with our VERDE LOCO month of events in March. We know that school can sometimes feel like a grind for students, so it helps to mix up once in a while to re-energize the spirit!
We saw school spirit at the highest level during our culminating Battle of the Green class competition event on Wednesday.
It was a showcase of entertaining talent that kicked off with our award-winning choir singing a tune from The Greatest Showman. If you’ve never seen our dance team in action, check out the youtube link and their performance, they’re really good!
The grade-level dances and competitions were so fun! Each had their own theme and told a story through music and dance. Our Freshman especially blew us away with their tribute to Top Gun. I thought I might lose some teachers to injuries during the table surfing competition. I hadn’t seen that one before!
As we awaited the judges results we filled the time with a variety of off-the-cuff activities, including an encore performance from freshman, Isabella Johns (pictured with me here). I put her on the spot and asked her to sing her intro solo again to The Greatest Showman. This time just her and a microphone, from the stands where she was sitting… and she nailed it! That’s rising to the occasion!
In the end, the seniors were victorious in the month-long competition and took home the trophy! Amidst all the festivities, senior, Hannah Lind lead a food drive that totaled over 10,000 meals donated to Spokane Valley Partners. Way to go!
Outside of a few sports and activities, we’re looking forward to a very quiet week around Ridgeline during our annual Spring Break.
If you’re able to take some time with the kids, enjoy it. We’ll see everyone back here, same time-same place, on April 10th. Make it a great spring week!—Mr. Hardt
