Red Ribbon Week
This year’s theme is Make PAWS-itive Choices- Be Drug Free! “Red Ribbon Week” is a national program which emphasizes the need to develop drug free schools and communities. Students will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week all week long by participating in various activities here at Groveland!
This year, teachers will keep track of who is wearing their RED RIBBONS EACH DAY! At the end of the week, students who wore their ribbon all week long will receive a POWER PAW and be entered into a raffle by grade level. The winning student will receive a Red Ribbon Week Themed Soccer Ball for their classroom to keep! We also invite everyone to participate in our SPIRIT DAYS! Please see the schedule below for more details.
Walk to W.I.N.
During W.I.N., or "What I Need" time, students participate in 30-minute lessons. WIN time is part of the Central Bucks School District initiative that helps students to grow academically in a purposeful way. Students are grouped based upon skills that will help them quickly succeed. The skills are determined through a STAR assessment given three times a year: September, January, and May, and curriculum tests. W.I.N. time is not a graded block of time, and it is not special education or gifted instruction, but an opportunity to provide targeted and meaningful instruction for all of our students.
Leaving Early or Arriving Late?
Whenever students arrive late or leave early, parents must enter the change in the Parent Portal. These incidents are recorded as "excused" or "unexcused" applying the same criteria as those for full-day absences.
To ensure a smooth dismissal for all students, please pick up your child prior to 3:15PM. Calling classrooms to release children during dismissal creates a substantial disruption. Therefore, parents who arrive after 3:15PM may be asked to wait patiently until dismissal ends.
Halloween Parade
The Halloween parade will be on Tuesday, October 31st starting at 9:45AM. Parking will be limited. If possible, please consider carpooling. In the event of inclement weather, there will NOT be a parade and parties would begin at 10:15AM. If the parade is canceled the decision will be made by 5:00PM on Monday, the 30th and communicated via email.
The school-wide parade will take place on the back playground. Kindergarten students will lead the parade, followed consecutively by the other grades.
Please use your best judgement in costume selection. Costumes of a violent nature are discouraged. There should be no weapons of any kind brought to school on Halloween.
Halloween Parties
On Halloween, volunteers will sign in at the Home and School table in the front of the building. All food/drink donations can be dropped off at the table beginning at 8:45AM.
