Character Trait of the Month
Our Character Strong trait for December is EMPATHY. Check out what each grade level is working on!
A Message from the Principal
Hello Hoover Families,
We have been so fortunate that the weather has been on our side up to this point. However, we are seeing winter weather temperatures this week and moving forward. Please remember to send students to school layered up with their winter gear (coats, snow pants, hats, mittens/gloves, and boots). Also, remind your student(s) to stop at our Lost and Found to see if they've misplaced any items - it's quite full at this point!
We had four great weather days last week that helped our playground installation crew complete a lot! We were informed that they should be done with everything early this week. Our students will continue to have recess behind our school building, away from the installation crew and equipment, until we have been given the "thumbs up" to use our new playground. Before our students check out everything, classroom teachers will review the new equipment with students and expectations to be safe and have fun! We will also share these with families to help review at home.

Elementary Report Card Updates
Elementary school report cards will be available to view ONLINE ONLY beginning Trimester 1
New for the 2023-24 school year, elementary school report cards will be available online and will no longer be sent through postal mail or student’s backpacks. Families will be able to access report cards by logging into A-HConnect or viewing it on the ParentVUE mobile app.
The switch to online report cards means that information is available to review at the conclusion of each trimester. Schools will notify families when the report cards are available to view. Parents, guardians and any person with educational rights to a student will be able to access the student’s report card online.
To ensure access to the report cards when available at the conclusion of Trimester 1, families are encouraged to make sure they have their login information now. Currently, report cards from last school year are available for viewing.

Parent 360 Engage Opportunities
This year, Anoka-Hennepin is hosting three Parent Engage 360 events, a parent education series with tools and resources to help parents/guardians support their students. Please take a look at this flyer for more information.
The first Parent Engage 360 event will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Coon Rapids High School auditorium and will feature author and co-founder of TILL360 Joe Beckman. Beckman is an engaging and dynamic speaker who combines humor, authenticity, heart, and soul that will help attendees find self-worth, resilience, confidence, joy, and human connection. Beckman is the author of Just Look Up: Five Life-Saving Phrases Every Kid Human Needs to Hear. Attendees at this event have the chance to win one of four free copies of Beckman’s book.
Register for the event (registration is not required, but helps with planning). Parent Engage 360 forum events are offered both in-person and in virtual formats and are free and open to the public.
Message from the Nurse's Office
Please send an extra pair of pants and underwear for your child in case there is an accident (bathroom, breakfast/lunch spill, etc.). The health office loves donations of gently used sweatpants and leggings sizes 5-10. We also appreciate new packs of underwear for boys and girls sizes 5-10.
The health office has free at home Covid tests. Email Darlene.Anderson@ahschools.us and we can send them home with your child.
Wondering if your child is well enough to come to school? Click here for more information.
If your child goes to the doctor or dentist, please request a doctor's note and send it with your child for attendance purposes.
Parent Educator, VSC, and PTO Updates
Parent Educator, Nichol Michaels - December's Parent Press - Brain Development (NEW!)
Volunteer Service Coordinator, Tina Fletcher - December VSC Newsletter (NEW!)
- A message from our Volunteer Service Coordinator, Tina Fletcher:
- Are you hoping to chaperone a field trip for your child's class? Come in and help out in your child's classroom? Volunteer at fun events like dances, carnivals etc? All of these events are super fun to be a part of and volunteer at, but you need to have a Volunteer Application and CRHR completed in order to volunteer. Having these forms filled out right away at the beginning of the year makes you more likely to be selected for volunteer opportunities you are interested in such as field trips because you will get emails about these opportunities right away and your paperwork being processed won't delay you being selected.
- If you have any questions, please email Tina Fletcher at tina.fletcher@ahschools.us. To see current opportunities, click this link.
PTO - Hoover PTO would love to increase participation! ALL parents/guardians are welcome to join our PTO. Please check them out on the Hoover PTO Facebook page and like/follow them to learn more about what's going on! PTO also has a website with additional information. Please bookmark this site and check-in for updates.
Also, please like/follow our Hoover Elementary Facebook page too!
