Please send in pictures of any active duty military person or veteran that you would like to honor on Veteran's Day. Please use this form or include veteran's name, rank, and branch of services along with your child's name. We will have them on display in our front hallway.
Reminders Around Campus
Arrival reminders:
Doors open and staff are available at 7:15 am.
There are two spots for students to exit directly out of the car during drop off. If your student can independently get out of the car, then you can use the side drive by the staff parking lot. This drive is NOT monitored by staff, except that someone will be standing at the door from 7:15-7:30am. If there are cars stopped in this drive, please use caution to go around them.
The front circle drive will have staff assistance starting at 7:15 am. Staff will be directing cars through the drive and supporting the crosswalk to ensure that everyone can cross safely. If you need to park and help your child out of the car/up to the building, please do not use the front drive. Please be sure to pull all the way up and do not park to drop off on a crosswalk. There will also be a safety patrol to assist students getting out of the car. Please do not use the front drive if you must get out of your car.
If you park and walk your child up, please be mindful of crosswalks and no parking zones. The tardy bell rings at 7:40 am. If your student arrives after 7:40, they will be directed to the office to get a tardy slip. Breakfast is served until 7:45 am.
Entering the Building:
First of all, thank you to everyone for your dedication to safety for our students, staff, and community. It is important that all visitors use the doorbell, get buzzed in, and go straight to the office to sign in. Please do not let anyone else in behind you. We appreciate everyone working together to follow that process, and close the door directly behind them in an effort to keep our students and staff safe.
Lunch Volunteering:
We love having parent lunch volunteers! When you arrive for the first time this school year, you will get a paper with some reminders and instructions for this year's lunch duty volunteering. If you volunteer on Tuesday or Thursday, you can eat lunch with your child before or after your shift. You MUST be APIE approved to volunteer. Visit Austin Partners In Education (APIE) to register.
Here is the link to volunteer for lunch duty:
Counselor's Corner
Hi, Boone Bear Families!
I want to start off by saying it was so wonderful to meet so many of you at Trunk or Treat last week. I just love getting to know the families who go with our awesome kids!
Because October was Anti-bullying month, I am finishing up lessons, in all the classes, on bullying (i.e. what is and what is not bullying; what to do if you feel you are being bullied; and how not to be a bully yourself!) A few weeks ago, we completed lessons on how to identify the size of a problem, in order to know how to respond appropriately. (You might have heard your students come home and talk about Windy, Rainy, Stormy and Tornado problems.)
My lessons will continue to help the development and growth of our social and interpersonal skills. We will be focusing on Friendship, Kindness, and Empathy before the holiday break. The No Place for Hate committee is working on our World Kindness Project for the middle of November.
5th Grade Boone Parents – Please check the AISD portal for access to middle school applications. I will be sending out an email shortly on the application process. Each middle school in the Magnet Program requires different documents for applications. Please email me if you have any questions and I will connect you to the middle school counselor who can help.
Also, please see below for some important dates for our feeder school, Covington MS:
November 15th- Family Transition Coffee Chat- 9 am Join us in the CMS library to discuss all things transition. All interested families of current 5th graders are welcome. Refreshments provided!
Dec 12th- Covington Fine Arts Academy Extravaganza! 9-11 am All direct feeder schools will have buses provided. If you are a non-feeder school but have students who would like to attend, please reach out to me!
Dec 19th- Covington MS Family Choice Sheet Night- 5:30-7:00 pm Join us for an evening at Covington to learn more about the CMS choice sheet and application process.
Jan 10th- Choice Sheet Coffee Chat- 9 am Join us in the CMS library to discuss all things choice sheets. All interested families are welcome. Refreshments provided!
I want to let you know I love your kids so much and seeing their smiling faces when I walk in is the highlight of my day!

Library Den
What a joy it is to see the abundance of books circulating out of and into the library! Nothing makes me happier than watching students choosing and captivatingly reading books.
Different grade levels are allowed to check out a specific number of books, but all books can be taken home if there are none overdue.
PreK & kindergarten: 1 book
1st & 2nd grades: 2 books
3rd, 4th & 5th grades: 3 books
Parents: 2 books. These can be for you or your students. Just email me in advance to let me know you’re coming.
Books are checked out for two weeks and can be renewed upon the due date. I always encourage students to check out one book they can read and one someone at home can read to or with them. Regardless of their ages, they love to be read too.
Students will always be allowed to check out books, even if they have books overdue. If a child is missing a book, they will be allowed to check out one book; they just have to read it in their classrooms and won’t take it home until the others are returned. Here are some helpful hints to help your Boone Bear take good care of their books.
Keep books in backpacks; it helps them locate them more easily.
Use bookmarks (even a piece of paper works), and keep the books away from food, beverages, pets, and toddlers.
Allow me to fix the books. Just have students point out any damages so I can fix them.
And last- but definitely not least - book fair will be December 4th-8th! Click HERE for more information about book fair.
Warm regards,
Ms. Sunny

As part of our rhythm unit students have begun working on jump rope skills and in grades 2nd-5th students will be incorporating various foot patterns into their jumping. The following is the criteria for jump rope at each grade level.

Music Notes
Second Grade is performing “Share Bears” on Thursday November 2nd for family and friends with an encore for the student body on Friday November 3rd. The message is one of sharing, caring, and making sure everyone has what they need. It’s a good lesson at any age. Fifth Grade will be performing patriotic music for the Veteran’s Day Assembly on Friday November 10th. They will sing five songs interspersed with various speakers and the recognition of veterans. It is a privilege to host those who have served and honor their contributions!
