June 10, 2022
Booth Free School had been recognized this year by the U.S. News and World Report and was ranked the #1 Elementary School in Connecticut. On Thursday, June 2, 2022, the school community held their celebration recognizing this amazing honor.
Teachers, students, families, and the following special guests: Superintendent Megan Bennett, Connecticut State Representative Cindy Harrison, Board of Education Chairman Gregory Cava, Roxbury First Selectman Patrick Roy, and Director of Curriculum Teresa DeBrito joined in the celebration.
This celebration was filled with lots of praise, cheers, and much excitement. Our school community is proud of our collective efforts in achieving this honor.

Film Festival Winners!
Congratulations to Mollie Leonard, Lucia Pongracz, Ben Churyk, and Sonny Smith, who won 1st Place in the Middle School Film category of the Skills21 Student Film Festival!
The group worked collaboratively to film and edit the original short screenplay written by Mollie Leonard entitled Hallway Crush.
46th Annual Spelling Bee
On June 2, 2022, third, fourth, and fifth-grade students gathered for the 46th Annual Booth Free School Spelling Bee.
Athletic Awards
Friday, June 3rd marked the end of the athletic season for the 2021-2022 school year. Athletic Director Matt Perachi hosted the event in the Shepaug auditorium and was joined by coaches from each of the fall, winter, and spring sports, as well as all of the students who earned special awards for their participation and efforts throughout the seasons.
Congratulations to all of the students who won awards and best of luck in your future athletic endeavors!
Botanical Illustration Field Trip
Botanical Illustration students enjoyed sketching in the gardens and participating in a workshop with Betsy Rogers Knox at The Hollister House in Washington. Betsy is a professional illustrator and teaches classes at The Hollister House and the New York Botanical Gardens.

Beach Director Position
The Town of Washington is seeking a beach director to work at the town beach located on Lake Waramaug! Good pay, great staff, and a relaxed atmosphere! Must be a certified lifeguard, with current CPR, AED & blood-borne pathogens training– we will train and certify, as and if needed. Duties include supervision/scheduling of lifeguards, coordination/logging monthly lifeguard training drills, issuance/monitoring of resident beach passes, assisting with the operation of the boat launch area, and maintaining open communication with the Parks & Rec Coordinator and Commission.
Beach hours are from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; 7 days per week.
