PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Can you believe the first quarter is already about to wrap up? That means it's time for parent-teacher conferences at Tiger Paw, our elementary schools, OMS, OJH and FRS (OHS are held in the spring). You should receive an email from your child's teacher to set up a time.
BUILDING HIGHLIGHTS
“Get Out and Stay Out”
October is Fire Prevention Month and we are thankful for to be a part of such a supportive of community! Ozark Fire Protection District has been taking time out of their busy schedules to come out and talk to our students! These photos are from Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center and East Elementary.
Parents, it’s a good time to have a chat with your kids about what they've learned from the OFPD’s awesome crews or simply ask them about the cool fire trucks they got to see. You can also discuss ways to “Get Out and Stay Out” safely when the smoke alarm sounds.
OHS Speech & Debate
The OHS Speech and Debate team have been working hard and it all paid off during their first competition last weekend at Nixa. Olivia Bullinger took first place in Radio Speaking. Adam Lupton took fifth place in Original Oratory. Caroline Cole took fifth place in Humorous Interpretation. Tiya Averett and Kennady Nelson took fifth in Novice Duo. Ozark also had some students that missed placement by a single point.
Congratulations to all the students who competed.
COC Champs!
Congratulations to the OJH eighth grade volleyball team for being named COC Champs! They played Nixa for the championship on Tuesday and fought hard for the WIN! The B team also won against Nixa in three games!
Also, these amazing celebratory photos were taken by OJH yearbooks staff!
Below, the seventh grade volleyball team finished their season Thursday night undefeated and with the COC title. Congratulations!
Place Value Party
North second graders recently had a Place Value Party! Students built and manipulated numbers in base 10 form, standard form, expanded form, and word form by making place value cakes, hats and snacks. Math is fun!
'Smart Goal Meeters'
East Elementary heard the bell ring for the first time this school year, that is the bell students who meet their goals get to ring! These third graders from Mrs. Lineberry's class are the "smart goal meeters" and were the first to ring the bell of the year. Congratulations! Hopefully East Elementary will hear that bell a lot this school year!
Marching Band Named Grand Champs in 1st Competition
Congratulations to the Ozark Pride Marching Band for being named Grand Champion out of 26 bands at the Valhalla Marching Band Festival at Parkview High School Oct. 7. During prelims, Ozark won second place while earning Outstanding Soloist for Truman Griessel's alto sax solo and Outstanding Color Guard. In the finals, we won outstanding soloist for Jakob Nickel's flute solo and the Outstanding Color Guard award again. And the band was named Grand Champion of the festival!
What a great way to kick off the marching competition season!

TEACHER PROUD TUESDAY
Oct. 10 was #TeacherProud Tuesday! Ozark is excited to join other school districts across the region in celebrating teachers on the second Tuesday of each month. This week we recognized Donna Lillard, geometry, honors geometry and college ready mathematics teacher at Ozark High School, and Shalana Warnick, special education teacher at West Elementary.
- Ms. Lillard works diligently to provide a quality education for each of her students. She loves her students and it shows in her teaching. She helps fill gaps with students who might struggle while providing enrichment for top students. Ms. Lillard has a lot of pep in her step. You will find her moving all over the classroom helping students perform at their best.
- Ms. Warnick is an incredible special education teacher who took on a new role with our SCOPE program this year. She has worked diligently to learn a new curriculum and build relationships to best serve West students in that program.
BACKYARD BRAWL
Help us Can the Eagles!
It is that time of year again, where your Ozark Tigers take on the Nixa Eagles in the Backyard Brawl at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at Nixa's Eagle Stadium. The annual contest is more than a game; it is an opportunity to support Ozark in our "Can the Eagles" competition. The district with the most contributions to Ozark's Least of These will earn bragging rights and the "Can Trophy" award.
