This week...

• is the last week before Winter Break 🎄 and Newscast is selling Holiday Grams 🎁
• a few 11th grade classes will be wrapping up ICA testing this Monday and Tuesday
• we are hosting the Westbrook Winter Wonderland and having the middle school as guest this Wednesday
• eligible seniors will be heading to El Dorado Park for the Senior Pic Nic this Thursday; This is also the date of our Pajama Spirit Day
• Friday is the December Fun Friday, which includes the staff vs. students basketball game 🏀; This is also Ugly Sweater Day

We understand that students may not be pleased 🙃 with the new After School Survey that should ...

• be administered and completed during Power Hour (every student will receive the survey via email to their student account; if a student does not receive it, please send them to the admin office as soon as possible)
• be completed by students accurately - if they do not sign up for a class = they can not stay

However, note that the purpose of this change is to address several needs, including…

• Student safety – In order to make sure all students are being monitored by an adult and are accounted for in case of an after-school lockdown or any other emergency, we need to know what adult is responsible for any given group of students.
• Limit student wandering – We have several students who stay after school but are jumping from section to section, or simply roaming around, thus not using the time productively and causing a disruption to several programs; The attendance sheets would allow us to ban students who are simply wasting time after school from participating in after school activities, as we do not have the staff capacity to babysit.
• Transportation – We need to collect attendance data in order to make sure we have an accurate number of busses for the after-school programs; Last Thursday we had too many students for one bus, thus having an accurate head count would allow us to plan accordingly.

Power Hour teachers are asked to remind students to complete the form accurately, as students will only be given one warning if caught in the wring place - which may include a class they did not sign up for or simply wandering around, before being banned from participating in any after school program for the remainder of the semester.
