February 5, 2021
It's that time of year folks!
If you would like the free poster(s), orders must be placed by March 31st. I hope to have more information by mid February about the IASL audio/eBook availability on MackinVIA. I struggled with the correct marc record information the first few years. Do not be afraid to reach out to your library system vendor and/or Perfection Learning for support.
Breakout Rooms Tips & Tricks
Many of you are living and breathing this experience. Managing students in the room and through video conferencing is not an easy task. I appreciate the simplicity of the tips.
Connect by school computer as the host call and then join via cell phone and wireless headphones. This allows flexibility to create breakout rooms with the computer and visualize who needs help in a breakout room because the class computer is in the room projecting. All the while, there is freedom to walk around with the phone, use a whiteboard, or have students share screen.
In advance, make a copy of a document and share it via Google Classroom to select students. Those students could share/collaborate with the others in their breakout rooms. The added bonus is the ability to evaluate the document of each group and support as needed.
Define student roles in breakout rooms. If hybrid, consider having an in-class student in each room so you can hear/see the interactions. Credit- Cynthia Kovach- Westville High School
