MOCK TRIAL WINS AGAIN!
Mock Trial is having a very strong season. We advanced to the county semi-finals and are moving on to the county finals at the Kenneth Keating Federal Building, 100 State Street on Wednesday 3/29/23. We will start at 6:00 P.M.
Mock trial is a competition in which students simulate a real trial and compete with other teams as the defense team or the prosecution team. The New York State High School Mock Trial Program is a joint venture of The New York Bar Foundation, the New York State Bar Association, and the Law, Youth and Citizenship Program. In this educational program, high school students gain first-hand knowledge of civil/criminal law and courtroom procedures.
For the past three seasons, we have been working with Michele Ferrara, Esq. who has been invaluable to our team. We would not be where we are without her.
The defense team who won this past week include: Lily Fitzpatrick, Asha Temperley, Ari Cator, Tia Narang, Edin Harvey, and Jack Harrington. This week, the defense team will be Lily Fitzpatrick, David Lusignan, Ari Cator, Edin Harvey, Aurora Cabral, and Jack Harrington.
The prosecution team, who won the first competition, consists of Lily Fitzpatrick, David Lusignan, Ari Cator, Omer Okutan, Sophia Sherin, Glyka Jamanis, and Aurora Cabral.
Other active participating members are Endi Gho and Ionna Vaugh.
KUDOS to senior Bridget Mousaw.
Bridget is an active member of the BHS Climate Club. This past week, Bridget was a guest on WXXI’s Connections with Evan Dawson. We are so proud of you Bridget and your leadership!

“Bridget Mousaw is known for her passion and tireless contribution to both high school and youth climate activism communities,” the Seneca Park Zoo Society stated. “As a member of the Rochester Youth Climate Leaders and New York Youth Climate Leaders, she helped plan the climate summit last year which was attended by youth of all ages from across the county. The Brighton Climate Club organizes events and projects including a district-wide Sustainability Plan and their “Say No to the Throw” event, an anti-fast-fashion thrift for Brighton High School students.”
