We are so glad to have you and your child at MCE! The 23-24 school year is off to a strong start at MCE! Staff and students are getting into a routine. Each day I have observed teachers and students reviewing and practicing procedures and routines.
Food Service
- Montgomery County-R-II Elementary Schools have a computerized meal accounting system. This system allows for any amount of money to be deposited in your child’s account. Money to be deposited should be sent in an envelope that is clearly marked. The envelopes will be collected each morning. All money sent for lunch will be deposited in the students lunch account. Lunch full price is $3.55 & breakfast full price is $3.05. Reduce price is $.40 for lunch and reduce price for breakfast is $.30. An adult lunch is $4.05 and an adult breakfast is $3.55. The cost for a carton of milk is 50 cents.
- The breakfast and lunch menu may be found at https://myschoolmenus.com/organizations/1736
- When sending a lunch from home, we ask that you DO NOT send items that need to be warmed in the microwave. This takes considerable time away from both student and teacher lunch times.
Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up
- We ask parents and guardians to please stay in their vehicle if using the drop-off/ pick-up lanes. Parents and grandparents are welcome to walk their children to the doors, if you plan to do this park your vehicle and escort your child across the driveway to the doors.
- If you need to buckle your child into their car seat in the afternoon, pull forward into a parking spot past the dumpster before getting out of the vehicle. This request is made in an attempt to respect everyone's time as they try to get to work and other activities.
- When possible, please pull to the end of the drop-off/pick-up lane. This allows us to unload or load several vehicles at once.
- If you drop your child off after the doors are closed, please escort them into the vestibule and make contact with one of the building secretaries.
Home/School Communication
Open communication is key to working as a team and I believe as a team we can provide your child with a fantastic school experience. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.
- Questions pertaining to food service, attendance, the Infinite Campus parent portal, and transportation should be directed toward the office.
- If you have any questions or concerns regarding academic or behavior/socialization please reach out to your child's teacher. Typically, your child's classroom teacher will be able to assist you and your child most effectively. Once you have spoken with the teacher, Mrs. Allen or I would be happy to help you with further concerns.
Extra Curricular Activities
MCR2 athletics and extracurricular activities are an important part of our school culture, and our students benefit from their peers, family and community members' support at these activities. The district asks that guests follow some basic guidelines to help make the activities a safe and fun experience for all spectators.
Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited on our campus.
Pets are also prohibited on our campus, any animal on campus should follow BOE policy about service animals.
All spectators are expected to remain within the general area of the activity they are attending (football game-concessions area or in the stands, basketball game-concessions area or in the gym, etc). We also ask that students are not throwing balls, or other objects, during the activity.
We expect elementary students to attend with a parent, guardian or responsible adult.
Please park in designated parking spots only so that all other areas of the buildings are accessible as needed. For outdoor events, special permission is required to park inside the gates (between football stadium and baseball diamond).
PTO Updates
The first PTO meeting for the 23-24 school year is scheduled for September 21st at 6:00 pm. This meeting will be held in the MCE Cafeteria. Please mark your calendar and make plans to join us!
Retired Teachers Grant: Dr. Kateryna Henness
Dr. Kateryna Henness was awarded a grant through the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation. Dr. Henness plans to use the $500 grant to purchase board games for all 3rd grade classrooms. These games will promote social skills such as turn taking, sharing, making conversation, problem solving, compromising and collaboration.
