October 2023 Meetings in Review
Horizon Project Update
Mr. Adam Chantry, Planetarium Director, delivered a presentation to the Board of School Directors that provided an update on the newly renovated Mallon Planetarium. Prior to the meeting, Mr. Chantry led the Board on a tour of the modernized space and showcased some of its new technology and the positive impact it is having on teaching and learning. Also in attendance for the planetarium tour were members of the Methacton Education Foundation Board, PA State Representative Joe Webster and his staff, representatives from the Office of Matt Bradford, and – Patrick Mallon, the brother of the late Gerald Mallon, Methacton’s original Planetarium director and Planetarium namesake. The district is planning a special grand "reopening" of the Mallon Planetarium on November 30, 2023. An official invitation will be shared in the coming days.
Methacton Education Foundation Recognition
The Methacton Education Foundation was recognized for their commitment to the students, staff and community of the Methacton School District. The Foundation has helped fund innovative programs across the district since 2009. To date, the Foundation has awarded $1,208,343.00 in grants to the Methacton School District. Some of the most notable programs that the Methacton Education Foundation has supported include:
- Maker Space Update & Laser Cutter at Skyview
- CNC Plasma Cutter at Arcola
- HD Camera for Warrior News at MHS
- STEMaker Spaces at all elementary schools
- IncubateorEDU (Entrepreneurship) Program at MHS
- Backpack Program (districtwide)
- Music Technology and Support
- The Horizon Project (Planetarium Improvements)
- The Windy Hill Hydroponic Farm at MHS
Spirit of Methacton Award
Introducing the Spirit of Methacton Awards! This new award will be presented each month to professional staff, support staff, a student, and a volunteer in each building. Spirit of Methacton Award recipients are individuals who consistently model the qualities of the 9 core values of the Methacton School District. These individuals enrich our school community with their knowledge, commitment and support.
October 2023's awardees represent Woodland Elementary School. They are:

Congratulations award recipients!
M Awards
More than 200 Arcola Intermediate School students have earned "M" Awards for Academic Excellence for the 2022-2023 school year. These students have achieved a 93% or greater grade point average. Arcola Intermediate School Principal Mr. Michael Bourdreau made the announcement at the October 24, 2023 Meeting of the Board of School Directors. Junior Board Representatives
A very special thank you to Malak Boualli and Vinny Serpico for representing Woodland Elementary School as Junior Board Representatives for October 2023. Malak led the meeting by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Vinny delivered a statement on what makes Woodland such a great school.
District Appointment
Dr. Deb Euker has been approved by the Methacton Board of School Directors to serve as the next principal of Methacton High School, effective on or about January 3, 2024. Dr. Euker has served the students and staff of Methacton School District for nearly three decades in a multitude of roles including as a gifted and fifth grade teacher at Audubon, and as a math teacher at Arcola. She has served in leadership roles as a math specialist and math coordinator at Skyview, Acting Principal at Audubon, Acting Assistant Principal at Skyview, and as Principal of Woodland Elementary School – her current role for the past 8 years. During her time at Methacton, Dr. Euker has led several initiatives and corresponding professional development including the effort to implement full-day kindergarten in our District. Additionally, she has served as an adjunct professor at LaSalle University and the College of New Jersey, helping to grow the next generation of teachers. Dr. Euker earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Lock Haven University, a Master of Education from Gratz College, a Doctorate and Principal Certification from Immaculata University and a Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from California University of Pennsylvania.
