Safety Reminder:
Just a reminder to all families entering Peninsula School to please buzz in at the front door and check in at the office. For the safety and security of all our students, please do not let any other individuals into the school if you are being let in. Please also refrain from standing in doorways with the doors open. This helps us keep everyone safe.
Reminder: Please call the attendance line if your child is missing school
Please call our attendance line at 503-916-6275 or email Sara at sgilds@pps.net if your child is missing school with the reason they are out. If there are multiple unexcused absences it is a district wide protocol that a teacher or member of our team will reach out to see how we can best support with getting your child to school. We know it can be hard and we are here to problem solve and support you and your family!

Immunization Exclusion Day is next Wednesday. If you have received calls, emails, or notes sent home regarding immunizations for your child, please remember to get those immunizations done with your doctor as soon as possible. If you need additional help or resources to get this completed, or just have questions, please reach out to the health room as soon as possible.

University of Portland Summer Learning Program and Reading Fair
KDP School of Education Reading Fair:
Kappa Delta Pi, the School of Education honor society, is once again hosting their annual Reading Fair on Sunday, February 25th from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the University of Portland in Franz Hall. This FREE event is an opportunity for families and children to come spend an afternoon together and share their love of reading. Children of all ages are welcome to participate in fun hands-on activities.
Summer Learning Program:
We have begun accepting applications for our annual Summer Learning Program! In this program, the learning focuses on the Oregon State Benchmarks appropriate for each child in mathematics, language arts (reading, writing, and speaking), and any other subjects in which the student needs help. Our Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidates tutor/teach students according to their learning needs. There are usually 4-5 students per 2-3 MAT candidates.
This year’s program will run July 1-August 1, Monday-Thursday, 9:30am-11:30am, and we welcome students entering grades 2-11 in 2024-25. The cost of the program is $125, though scholarships are available.
Online registration is now available here. To request a printable PDF or registration packet via postal mail, please contact Amy Kwong-Kwapisz at kwongkwa@up.edu or 503-943-7752.
