December is a month of great excitement. Thank you for supporting our teachers by having your child attend school, focus on learning, get enough rest and plenty of fresh air. As we close off 2023, we look back at a year of many challenges, but also a time for all of us to take care of ourselves and others. Our students have shown us how to go with things as they happen, ask questions to understand and enjoy all the small things. We continue to learn as much from our amazing students as they learn from us. Our Gift of Giving to others is priceless. Help, make time for, give thanks to and leave positive messages for others. Make this Christmas season extra special by giving your time to others.
Please plan to attend one of our live Christmas Concerts this December in our gymnasium. Our pre-Kindergarten, Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten, and Tuesday/Thursday Kindergarten performance will start at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 (doors open at 3 pm). And, our grade 1 to 5 performances (same concert) will take place at 1 pm (doors open at 12:30 pm) and 6:30 pm (doors open at 6 pm) on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Thank you to all the teachers for the many hours of preparation for this year’s Christmas concert.
At JSS, we continue to recognize students who say and do the right thing, especially when no one is looking. Each week, we randomly pick two student Jaguar Cards (submitted into the “Caught in the Matrix” Jaguar Card Bin in the school office) to enjoy a free lunch (made possible by our local eatery/restaurant supporters). Those students have their picture taken and uploaded to the electronic bulletin board in our north entrance lobby. Each Jaguar Card remains in the bin for the entire month, then we start over with an empty bin the next month. 139 JSS students received Jaguar Cards in September, another 107 students in October and 224 students in November, for a total of 470 Jaguar Cards so far. We are very proud of all our students living the school pledge each day. Stay tuned for our December totals and beyond.
Thank you to …
Mrs. Radchenko, Mrs. Mitchell, our Grade 5 students, and all other staff, students and parents/guardians who helped organize and facilitate our JSS Remembrance Day Ceremony on Friday, November 10, 2023. Big thanks to all our guests who attended the event as well.
Our University of Alberta: Augustana Campus students (Miss Talea Cal & Mr. Ty Moore) for coaching our Grade 5 Jaguar Volleyball Team this fall.
The parents/guardians that continue to help out with our School (Parent) Hot Lunch program.
On behalf of Jack Stuart School and the JSS staff, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Enjoy the Christmas break from Thursday, December 21, 2023 to Wednesday, January 3, 2024, with classes resuming on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

Little Free Library location at JSS
We are excited to announce the arrival of our very own Little Free Library at Jack Stuart School. Thank you to Parent Council for covering the cost of building the outdoor library at our school location. We would also like to thank Camrose & District Support Services for assisting Mrs. Biletski in getting this project started and the Camrose Mens' Shed for the build. The Little Free Library is located at the entrance of our school beside the benches.
What is a Little Free Library?
The mission of an LFL is to be a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through a network of volunteer-led book-exchange boxes. Little Free Library book-sharing boxes play an essential role by providing 24/7 access to books (and encouraging a love of reading)!
How does it work?
LFL's work as a “take a book, leave a book” system. A Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone can stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share.
Some Guidelines to Remember:
- Our LFL will mainly cater to pre-school to Grade 5 children. When leaving books, please be reminded of the age of our audience
- Please have a conversation with your children that library books DO NOT go into the box to share. Throughout the year we may place discarded books from our library that are still labelled. We will make all efforts to stamp these books as DISCARDED and cross off the school barcode. This is an indication that it is a purged book from our collection and that it can be used to share.
- Small craft kits or puzzles are welcome if all pieces are included
- Please do not leave any propaganda.
Book Donations Accepted
Donations of both new and gently used children's books to our school are welcome.
Donations can be dropped off at any time during front office hours.
Donated books should be for children aged 4 - 12 years old.
Books should not be overly aged, dirty, damaged or missing their covers or pages, etc.
January Artists Art Club
January Art Club will run on January 16. This class will be opened to Grades 3-5. Permission forms can be picked up in the office.
